The following is Kenny's obituary.Now I want to report the death of my brother Kenneth Ellison, Eldorado, IL 62869. He passed away on October 6, 2010 around 7:00 p.m. last night. He will be at the Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, 700 4th Street, Eldorado, IL 62930. Visitation Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Funeral Saturday at 2:00 p.m.. He had Colon and Liver Cancer.
Mr. Kenneth Ray Ellison, 68, of Eldorado, went to be with the Lord at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 at his residence.
He was the husband of Wanda Sue (West) Ellison who survives.
Kenneth was born in Omaha, IL on February 3, 1942, the son of the late Herbert and Bernice (Taylor) Ellison.
He was a member of The Church of New Beginnings in Eldorado.
He was a welder at Babcock and Wilcox, Star Welding in Shawneetown, and worked during the construction of Arclar Coal Company.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons Allen Ray Ellison of Eldorado, Darren Lee (Megan Weatherly) Ellison of Carbondale, three brothers, Gene (Linda) Ellison of Norris City, Gary (Carolyn) Ellison of Eldorado and Donnie (Sandy) Ellison of Norris City.
Funeral Services at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 9th, 2010 with Rev.'s Toby Hise, Michael Whobrey & Robert Murray officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery.
Visitation hours are Friday 5-8 pm at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home.

I met Kenny in 2004 at my first checker tournament. Kenny was the kind of person that never met a stranger and made you feel as if you'd been his friend for life. It's not the checker games but the meeting of checker players like Kenny face to face that makes the traveling to and attending checker tournaments so special. What a great guy he was and he will be missed by all who knew him.
