Post by Alan Millhone »

Hello Everyone:

In my today's mail I received 2 new books authored by Mr. Jim Loy . One is VEGAS 2007 and the other is PRAGUE 2005.

The VEGAS book is 85 pages and has 9 color photos included. The book contains games of:

U.S. National GAYP national Tournament
" Arthur Niederhoffer" National Youth Tournament
WCDF GAYP World Qualifier
WCDF GAYP World Qualifier -- Women

Plus : Dr. Richard Beckwith's reminiscenses of vegas and all four tournament.

This book is $12.00 shipped in the USA.
=============================================================================

PRAGUE 2005 contains:

WCDF GAYP Qualifier
WCDF GAYP Women's Qualifier
WCDF GAYP Junior World Championship
With the story of the tournament as told by Dr. Richard Beckwith

This excellent book is also $12.00 shipped in the USA.

=============================================================================
Games in both books are very well annotated. I recommend to all of you to add both fine books to your Checker/Draughts Library.

I thought Alex was going to do the book on the vegas qualifier 2007 and does this mean that the participants don't get a free copy ?

Sune
P.S. Looking forward to reading the annotation on my own games - NOT :cry:

What do you like about checkers?: .....

Sune, it is true that I planned to do this ... although for free. Unfortunately my comp is seriously broken and not functioning very well, and I am out from working on any books for many months. Jim kindly agreed to pickup this job. His efforts are worthy of much more than $12 - trust me ! I hope to get a new computer in the very nearest future and will be back to business any time soon.

In the meantime I would strongly recommend you to get these MUST books.

Regards,

Alex

Baught it.

I can't wait to see my bad games either.
If you plz could skip my mistakes ;-)
I wonder what happend to the Barbados 2004 and Stonehaven 2006 games?
The games of every important event should be published, may it be just as pdn download, a bulletin, or a tournament book.

I finished annotating the Stonehaven 2006 games back in Sep. 2007. Graham Young insisted on publishing them himself. I haven't heard anything about it since.

In the Vegas 2007 book, I forgot to identify the players in one of the color photos. The two guys playing checkers are, of course, Lubabalo Kondlo vs. Ron King.
