Hi Jay,

Having just read the R.D. Yates Checker Player book on the site mentioned above, he might be a candidate
for your Mt Rushmore list of four.

Regards - Liam.

Yeah...America's original "shooting star"....
Other American shooting stars..Gonotsky, Lieber, Rosenfield, Chamblee (among others).
British ....French, Levy, Gallagher (among others).
All men who burst on the scene, blazed a trail, and left way too soon......

What do you like about checkers?: I enjoy learning more and more as i go. despite its alleged simplicity the game is incredibly complex and rewarding.

A Man of Means

"Trailers for sale or rent
Rooms to let...fifty cents.
No phone, no pool, no pets
I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but..two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road."

P S I just got a copy of Richard Pask's Starting out in Draughts for 99 pence on ebay :)
I already have a copy, but I think it was Oldbury who said you should get 2 copies of every book on Draughts, one for the bookshelf and one for cut outs.

I have found quite a number of bargains on ebay, just won Tom Wiswell's regulated board for 99 cents usd. Bought 1 volume of the British Draughts Journal (hardbound) from Amazon for 19.99 usd(1955-1956).

An awesome find, and an excellent post George !!!!

Can anyone present on the forum school me on what technology, program, etc., etc. was used to produce this (hit the link to see what I am referring to..)
I have been waiting for several months for the "ION BOOK SAVER" that was shown at an expo last January...with a proposed release date of April...but it has not yet been released. Google it to see the demo......
But, whatever was used for this (Call's Vocabulary) looks incredible......again, can anyone give me info on how this is done.
I have tons (literally thousands of pages) of things I would post....some pretty rare stuff that could probably never be found elsewhere....
Jay "any help appreciated" H

Wow !!! That piano piece might be one of John Reade's favourites. :)

Thanx John....but, with all due respect to all concerned, I'll probably wait for the Ion book Saver....Image

Sorry, I don't know the rag. I agree it gets a bit monotonous with the same 8 bars repeated over and over again. Also the smudged right hand towards the end.
