Richard Pask has revised and improved the first volume of Logical Checkers, and we've republished it as Checkers for the Novice. It's available as a free PDF ebook on my Checker Maven site, and in a trade paperback print edition from Amazon, here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1986847071/re ... the+novice. It should also soon be available from Amazon UK and Amazon Europe. The asking price is modest at US $7.49 exclusive of shipping.
This is a book to give to everyone whom you want to encourage to play checkers at something beyond the "toy" level.
I am quite proud to have had a hand in editing and publishing another of Richard's fine books.

Re: Richard Pask: Checkers for the Novice
Hello everyone! A request.
Could any member of the fraternity who has read Checkers for the Novice post a review on Amazon please. Obviously it would be nice if it were positive (!) but that is up to you: the main thing is to get the book 'out there', as its main intention is that of interesting the general public in our great game.
My thanks again for the great job Bob Newell did with the production: no publisher, no matter how large, could have done better.
Sincerely, Richard Pask

Re: Richard Pask: Checkers for the Novice
I have reviewed a few (Verified Purchase) checker books on Amazon, but I have not read Checkers for the Novice, although I have thumbed through a copy I ordered on Amazon. It would be great to read some reviews from the checkers fraternity. Words can be powerful, and Amazon has a big audience. Still, it is easy to write a review on Amazon. Sometimes someone might actually find your review helpful.

Re: Richard Pask: Checkers for the Novice
I bought this book via Amazon and it was delivered today to my house. Looking … thinking … enjoy.
I will post my review on Amazon in the next couple days.
Any book for novice should achieve two goals:
1) Teach to play game.
2) Teach to love game.
I think Mr. Pask new book "Checkers for the Novice" well achieved both goals!
