Two books updated

Post by chipschap »

The 3rd edition of Richard Pask's "Checkers for the Novice" is now available on the Checkermaven site (free) and from Amazon (sadly not free). There are a very few text corrections; the main point was to correct some missing/incorrect square numbers in a few of the diagrams. There is absolutely no need to buy another hardcopy for these few changes.

I also revised the book's description on the Amazon sales page after one viewer took offense at the term "Anglo-American" thinking it was an inappropriate racial and ethnic designation. The viewer obviously didn't understand the terminology, and there was of course never any intent to offend, but has political correctness gone a bit far here?

The 3rd electronic release of the much underrated "How to Win at Checkers" by Fred Reinfeld is also available at the Checkermaven site. This edition incorporates further notes and corrections kindly provided by George Hay. I also took the opportunity to improve the typography; I've learned a lot about that subject since the original 2011 1st release. The books of course remains a free download.
