My assumption is only based on what I saw personally. Bagtiyar play didn't impress me much in Ireland and if he was in top 3 three times in WQT - this only tells something about level of these events, but not his level. :D
MostFamousDane wrote:That is very impressive - I can't play at all unless I'm completely resten and feel well - you have to teach me how you do it.
Just keep playing disregard everything. It is like zebra - bad days-good days and the only way you have - move ahead. Sooner or later black zone will be ended ! :D Also I would recommend you control yourself and don't worry much about your play and results - don't be very excited if you win and don't be very disappointed if you lose. It is like your face in poker :D - specific cards should not have any influence on your behavior !
MostFamousDane wrote:The reason why I don't predict you or Ron King to finish first is that it would simply be too boring a prediction :)
This is understandable - people like sensation
MostFamousDane wrote:All statistics and history doesn't disprove my message - my assumption here is that they will use the schwiss system for the tournament with game scoring. The schwiss system only has one advantage and that is that it is pratical - it is hopelessly unfair
I totally agree with you that Swiss system is very unfair, but why do you think that all luck should go to my opponents ? :D :D :D
MostFamousDane wrote:I will make the opposite prediction that the winner will be one of the best players who has a bad day early in the tournament and loses some games
Based on my long (40 years) and strong experience in Swiss tournaments in different forms of checkers I can tell you - there are some math limitations here. If you lose 3 or more games - more likely you may not have enough room to collect points for the 1st place. Remember - I predicted to winner up to 32 points. If you lose 3 games - your maximum will be already 34 and you have to win all rest - 17 games !!!

You still maybe OK if your opponents also lose good number of games :D but this is too optimistical assumption !

Nope, Moiseyev is not very unusual last name in Russia. However ... the famous Russian dancer Igor Moiseyev (recently died at 94 years old) was my far relative !

Concerning checkers this last name also is not unique :D There is A(ndrew) Moiseyev in Belarus, National Master in Russian checkers.

Well, this coincidence inspirs me to a half-serious thought:

the FMJD shuld hold a draughts Pentathlon with Checkers, Shashki, Brazilian, Draughts 100 and maybe Italian draughts, too.
The players have to play a rapid-tournaments in each discipline and the overall-winner is the one who has the lowest number of placings.
I.E. if player A is 1st in Checkers, 15 th in Draughts 100, 5th in Brazilian, 2nd in Shashki and 1st in Italian that counts up to 1+15+5+2+1 =24
And player B might finish 1st in Draughts 100, 1 st in Braztilian, 8 th in Shahski, 7th in Checkers and 9th in Italian, and thus would end up with 1+1+8+7+9=26.
Player A would finish better then player B.

So we could have a Draughts Pentathlon Champion!

Greetinx from Germany

P.S: Maybe Moiseyev could win that Pentathlon?
