Updating Tournament Results
Why does it take so long for tournaments to be updated? The ACF website is always behind on updating results and all other matters. The webmaster should be more involved in the events happening. Updating shouldn't take weeks to do.

Yes i must agree Yunior what is the problem here is it..........whoevr is doing it has not got the time if so then give it to someone who has the inclinationto do so.....and that goes forany website most of which seem way behind is this day nage of technology including or own northwest site irishdraughts.org

If this is the case...I would volunteer to do the job. All I want is to see an updated site with updated events and news. I am online most of the time due to my school classes being Virtual. If the webmaster does have trouble getting everything in he should say something about it..not just come on when ever possible to do the job.

Re: Updating Tournament Results
Yunior, thanks very much for your interest in our site, as fresh volunteers are welcome. (If your offer is still good, may need to get in touch with you later about where to go from here.)
I might clarify a couple things.....Jason Solan has done much for ACF as webmaster, but he only agreed to assist “part-time” when his predecessor resigned. As Jason has continued to focus more and more on his studies, others have pitched in with certain parts of this site, including the tournament results. (For example, I learned how to upload ratings, add events to calendar, etc.). Nevertheless, it seems Jason is not the only one who has become “busy.” Furthermore, sometimes complete tournament results aren’t even received for a couple weeks after an event has ended, as not all tournament directors use e-mail.

Thanks for clearing that up Richard. I should of figured with studys and such that it would get busy. I also had in mind he was the only webmaster working on the site. When ever you need help updating just let me know. I'v worked for a while on websites and have programs such as dreamweaver. I am online everyday and like I said, I begin my studys September 5th but with courses through the internet.

Re: Updating Tournament Results
It seems a good idea to give this job to a yonger computer literate person as the do have the technology to do this . I rather suspect the more mature(older) ones are having to get a 3rd party to actually insert this info on the site. Maybe im totally wrong on this? But its just a thought.

Re: Updating Tournament Results
Thanks for volunteering Yunior.
I'll contact you via email with instructions.
Here's to clarify a few things:
I've been out of school for over a year now and had hoped to have more free time to work on the site once i got out. However the opposite is true. My job requires more of my time than school ever did.
I've fallen out of the checkers loop probably a year and a half ago or so. I had asked for volunteers to keep the information on the site as current as possible.
Dr. Beckwith and Alan have done a great job with reporting news and whatnot. Clayton and Kim both have access to update tournament news and results, however i understand they've both been very busy lately as well.
Dr. Beckwith additionally helps out a lot with the store and ratings and some tournament information as well.
Jim Loy has his own section under ACF Bulletin which he updates information for the bulletin.
I've streamlined the site to be as dynamic as possible and give the ability to update information without having any technical background, so that any volunteer can do it. No web programming is required or needed.
Basically all i do anymore is related to the technical aspect of things.

ACF Volunteers
Hello Jason:
You have done an excellent job as webmaster, considering your limited time to devote to the site. I readily admit to not being too computer literate and have to rely on others to service and run our ACF site. I know that Kim and Clayton have other duties and I can't expect Dr. Beckwith to do it all either. Hopefully Yunior will have the time and energy to devote to updating the site. The ACF is always in need of volunteers in many areas. I am lucky to have several 'behind the scenes' volunteers that assit me in a variety of projects as needed. Of late Michael Stewart has stepped forward to take over running the GAYP Club for our ACF. If any of you reading this posting have an urge to volunteer some time............ Let me know!
Sincerely:

Updating Tournaments
Hey Jason,
Thanks for the email. I gathered the information and entered the site. Although, I have one question concerning results of tournaments. The page comes up the same as to add a tourney. Email me at undertaker89123@yahoo.com

Re: ACF Volunteers
I'd be happy to volunteer to help the ACF in any way I can with the spare time that I have, though admittedly it's not much.Alan Millhone wrote:Hello Jason:
