North Carolina Open

Post by Michael Holmes »

John Webster won. John and I did not lose any games. We both beat Tim Laverty. Tim may get more points than me to take 2nd place.

My son, Alex Holmes, won the Youth Tournament and received a nice trophy. He also played in the Majors and had 11 points in came in 10th or 11th out of 15.

Masters top prize was $125.00- a little less than last year.

My hot congratulations to John ! It seems like he is in excellent form and fully armed for upcoming GAYP QT in England. I am also glad to see Alex Holmes nice performance. He is improving every year and every event and it's just a matter of time when he will be among strong USA players.

I can imagine a dialogue in the nearest future: "Alex won a tournament". "Which Alex ?"
I am playing checkers, not chess.

Thank you both for the nice comments about Alex. I am sad to report that Dr. Webster informed me he will not be going to the World Qualifier.

North Carolina Open Results

Post by Michael Holmes »

Although there is not a results tab yet for the NC the results are posted on the site. Just click on the calendar, then click on NC tourney then click on the results tab at the bottom right. Or, here is a link that should work http://www.nccheckers.org/NCCA/2009%20N ... esults.htm

Looks like I was lucky to take second place with 134 honor points to Tim Laverty's 123 honor points.
