any weather prediction for Thursday night ? Should I have any troubles to get there - due to bad weather (rait-storm-tornado,etc) ? I heard today on TV that some roads are close. My trip goes through 71-65-40 US Hwys.
There were 28 or 29 players in 2 Divisions, 9 players in Master Division. Mary and Frank Davis did a great job as Referees, and Hugh Burton and Larry Keen - as Directors and organisers of this excellent event. First day we had fantstic lunch as usually. I eat 3 portion of chicken and 4 ot 5 glasses of coke. Second day we had pizza with choice of all different kinds - pepperoni, cheese, everything on it etc
I finished 1st in master Division with 22 points, Don West got a buy in last round which helped him to finish second with 16 points. Anthony Bishop, Larry Keen and Larry Pollard had 15 points.
I hope JR will post detail report soon. I will post some games too.
I will post the official report when Frank figures the HP and mails it to me.
As Alex said 9 Masters and 20 Majors.
Anthony Bishop, Frank Davis, Gene Ellison, Wayne Jackson, Larry Keen, Alex Moiseyev, Larry Pollard, Don West, and Bill Wethington were the Masters.
Alex had 19 going into the 7th round and no one could catch him, winning the tournament with 22 points.
Don West in 2nd place with 16
Bishop, Keen, & Pollard tied with 15
Mike Choate of Madisonville, TN won the Majors with 22 points
Flavious Burgess took 2nd place with 19
Garry Ellison, Arthur Mays, and Ted Williamson with 18 each for 3-way 3rd place tie.
Congrats to Alex and Mike on winning their divisions !!!
Really wanted to be at this tournament but didn't work out. Maybe next year.
Seems like it is fast becoming one of the premier tournaments in the nation.
The folks associated with the Strawberry Festival Checkers Tournament in Humboldt, TN are to be congratulated for a fine tournament. My wife, Linda, and I had a great time. I got to meet and play against some players that I didn't know. If you weren't there, you missed a good one!
