Yes, many congrats to Trey. Like Joe Schwartz said (and, like I guess we've been saying in this forum), we don't have enough young players attending tournaments anymore. Great to see some showing up and doing well. Keep studying and you'll be a majors champ in no time.

I have been in the game for over 60 years and I think there are more good young players today than ever before.....Mac Banks said!!!..............

Mac is quite right now the problem is how is the best way to harness this crop of young checker addicts b/c there are plenty of them.If the ACF or anyone else for that matter could put a "think tank" in operation to get these young uns ,(who play every day online) to get their opinion on a personal level as to how their thinking would be on such a project it might just be more worthwhile than us all "banging on" at each other.

Because as Mac rightly says the "time line" may be right, to strike now.Ive given my thinking on what i thought would be a plus in this direction,John Post is crying out for what would help him in his endeavours and Wayne Gober has posted what his needs are to improve his particular situation ,all i can say for the good of checkers is:disregard these thoughts and aspirations at your peril and to the detriment of of game going forward.

There are no prizes or points to be won in this discussion,on a personal note my game has always been Mail play i nvr was or will be a top xboard player and but for Mail play i wouldnt even be talking on this site and would have little interest really.I do howevr have a great interest in promoting draughts and especially young players b/c you see all any or these "young guns" needs is a thing called confidence ........and thats completely free no cost no loss.

And you dont need to be a master player to do that ,i fact Kim Willis ACF secretary does it on a regular basis,why cant you?? In football all over the world you have coaches,what do coaches do?? make you better ,are they or have they ever been top players in their chosen sport ,mostly NO....so why cant yu hook up with a guy/gal who who is climbing that hill and help him/her on their way .......whats the price you pay for this??...........love of the game and the satisfaction that just maybe some day you will be proud of THEIR achievements ever bit as much as if you had done it yourself................will they get over that hill??............no one knows that BUT GIVE AT A GO ANYWAY!!IF YOU DONT GO YU LL NEVR KNOW...............

Besides to be honest there are abt 300m people in the USA ........ if we have 300 players then thats 1 in a million ............lets not kid ourselves of the task ahead.

At the end of the day the top players that have the ability dont take on the task of sharing their experience with the hungry young nippers that are trying to breakthru ,then we can all forget the well being of the game .........because in an nutshell, checkers just wont exist in 20 yrs time.Watch this space!!
