A Very Strong Field, Ron king being the favourite but he faces some stiff opposition, not least of all from Borghetti who if he plays and is in form would be my tip for a top 3 place.

Don't worry about this, Kim. Just concentrate and play and forget about Internet. I personally can wait by the end of event when you tell me that you won it !

Hi, I’ve just got off the telephone to the Sean Phillips who tells me that the Irish Open is a very strong and exciting contest, because of both the strength of the field and the large number of different nationalities there. Four rounds have been played to date from this nine round event.

The event attracted 57 entries divided as Masters x 26, Senior x 23, Intermediate x 8. The IDA organisers have amalgamated the Senior and Intermediate divisions with separate prizes to the top rated players from each grading.

Overnight the table stands as 14pts Ron King (Barbados) 11pts T. Watson (Sct), 10pts, S. O’ Driscoll (Irl), J. Mc Elhone (NI), I. Martynov (Ger), M. Shabshai (Isr), 9pts, S. Mc Cosker, etc, etc. (These scores are from a possible 16pts). The excitement this morning was that John Mc Elhone missed a win against Ron King on an ending during their 3rd Round pairing.

Senior / Intermediate results: 13pts Joe Maguire (Irl), 12pts S. Mc Kenna (NI), J. Davis (Irl), 11pts J. Joliffe (Eng) and B. Coll (Sct). There will be three rounds played tomorrow. Hugh

Just a correction here - Joe Swartz (USA) is also on 11 pts. The Irish Open does not have a seperate Women's division, therefore these divisions are mixed. The WCDF QT starts on Wednesday and will have a seperate event. Many players taking part in the WCDF QT have yet to arrive, including the Turkmenistan delegation who are still in transit in London.

Alex - Thats what I'm told. Hugh
