I suppose Ron King, Alex Moiseyev and Michele Borghetti also scored no points so far :-)

R u playing there, Sune?

And how far away are you from these prominent scores?

Yes I am also playing - I'm on 6 points after 4 rounds. All the openings that I have drawn so far have been openings where reds first two moves are 9-13 and 10-14 or similar those kind of openings you kind of have to study in order to be able to draw the weak side of. As you know studying is for cowards who are afraid to lose :).

Sune,

it seems you studied them well. You found all the losses.

Well I actually didn't lose that many games (3 out of 10 games) - unfortunately I didn't win many either (1/10). Most player's around me had a bye which I didn't that is reflected in the scores - so all in all I think I had a pretty good tournament . To substantially improve my result here would require at lot of study - these Irish buggers are not easy pickings :).

Congratulations to Sean Cronin for a great victory and to Paddy Doyle, Pat Logue and Tom Kee for good performances.

Sune, I always said that 3-move in fact favors the book player, as it is harder to defend most 3-move ballots without exact knowledge, while GAYP offers a lot of possibilities for the defender in each sound opening.

Or, in other words: instead of reducing the advantage of book play with 156 openings, it is multiplied by a factor that is at least 50 times higher then the advantage of a book player in GAYP...

We also saw that in the last 3-move WC, when Alex Moiseyev got a huge book advantage by the unusual high number of new ballots and ballots that were not played in Italian Dama.

Not the better player prevails in 3-move, but the better memory...
