Hi John....4+3 = 7 rounds as usual. So Mr Alex had a win and 5 draws today (7 points) + 11 pts yesterday makes 18. Michael had all draws today.

John, we had 7 rounds as any other years, 14 points - 50%. I won 4 games and got 18 points. Missed win with Richard and didn't play last game of last round with Michael Holmes (strong side of Black Widow) because we ran out of round time. Mark victory over Alan in last round was awesome and some sort of compensation for his average performance.

It was very tough competition this year. I barely made it.

Regards,

Alex

Dear Mr. Alex:

You were lucky :-) I agree with your comment to me that i am not playing as well as I did ten years ago----------- old age catching up with me I guess.

You learn volumes playing the top players and I consider it an honor to play in such a strong tournament. Yes, the game Mark won is worth showing with annotations. A "smother" and a half to be sure !

Any of you who did not attend you miseed it ! We played as one group and as a " B " player was proud to be included in one group.

Thanks to Mr. Lo Conti and to Dr. Beckwith for organizing and running such a fine event.

Sincerely:
Alan Millhone, President

Thanks to Dr. Beckwith for directing such a great tournament. I was very happy not to lose any games and the games I played were of a high calibre.
I also would like to thank those who donated.
Steve, thank you for the books!

I am very happy to see Alex Holmes play with more consistency and deliberation.

It was a pleasure discussing so many lines of play with so many different people. I learned quite a lot at this tournament.

I once again would like to thank Dr. Beckwith and Mr. Lo Conti for hosting a great tournament. As usual, I had another great time with all my checker buddies. I also enjoyed meeting Clint Olson for the first time and would love to see him at some future tournaments. He is a good player and adds to the ACF's youth. I played well this tournament, but the computer showed me I still have a lot to learn. I will be happy to post some of the more interesting games/positions that came up for me in this tournament in the game section a little later on. I am considering coming to the 11 Man National in February of next year and making that my next tournament. Hopefully I will be able to make it!

Yeah, thanks for a well-run tournament. High quality people and high quality checker players made this a great event. I'm pretty happy with my play overall, especially considering I was only a point out of 1st with a round to go. After coming back to checkers from a lengthy absence I think this tournament has rekindled my interest again.

I'm considering playing a few more tournaments next year, perhaps Southern States, Ohio and the US Nationals.

Tip for other checker players: Don't go out for beers before the last round :-)
