Thanks to JR for the post. This match idea came together recently and quickly, but it will be opportunity for Alex Holmes to challenge while Ms. Zaitseva is still age-eligible (she is about to turn 20).
I will send $300 from ACF and a donation from myself to Charles Walker. More donations are needed and can be made on-line at ACF Store under the "Dream Young" Donation button

The last news I heard - Tetiana recently got visa to USA and plans to arrive around December 26 depends on tickets availability.

This match will be fun for everyone and nice end of 2017 year.

I am afraid to bet on anyone. Both title contenders are fine players with their strengths and weaknesses. Let's see how it goes ...

What do you like about checkers?: I love the simplicity/complexity of the game. I became interested in the game as a child playing with my grandfather. Then studied checkers more in depth as a late teenager, but got away from the game for a while. Recently I have gotten my excitement back for the game. I'm working hard to improve my game. I hope to enter an ACF tournament in 2017. I check the forums daily and would like to interact with the other players. Thanks!

From V. Lapin PM on Facebook: after 4 games Alex won 2 games, Tetiana won 1 game and 1 draw. Alex got a lead.

They should play 4 more games today and 8 tomorrow. In total 16 games.

Evening session - Alex won 3 games and 1 draw. Total score after 8 games 5-1-2 (12-4) in Alex favor. Looks like Tetiana underestimate him or didn't prepare well.

Alex is doing exceptionally well in this match (so far) and I am so glad we have him as youth on USA team for upcoming match USA vs Italy, April 20-26 2018 in Rome.

Congratulations to Alex Holmes in winning the battle of the Youth Freestyle World Champions, Six Wins, One Loss, with Five Drawn Games. The best of 16 Games was completed in 12 games. The final score is 17-7 based on two points for a won game, and one point for a drawn game. Alex reclaims the Crown that he first won in Barbados in October 2013. Congratulations to Tetiana Zaitseva who fought the good fight in this December match, and won the WCDF Youth GAYP World Championship Match in August 2017 at the same venue as the current match, the International Checker Hall of Fame in Petal, Mississippi, USA. Special Thanx to Charles Walker of ICHF for hosting both events.
