Look at the Roster of Champions on this website, it lists Richard Beckwith as U.S. GAYP National Champion and Alex Moiseyev as U.S. 3-move National Champion. it also lists Ron King as 2005 US GAYP National Ty winner and as 2006 US 3-move National Ty winner
You beat my arguments man ... but awarded with couple new titles (one from 2001) ! In and out - it is very pity that Dr. Webster, one of the very outstanding GAYP players in USA, don't play in Qalify Ty in Las Vegas
He was 2nd in 1997 and 2nd again this year and never really go very far down all other years.
I am wondering if we find some day "financial angel" for Rich Hallett, the man who lives on very fix income. He missed his 3-move World Title Match at the end of 90's - his prime time. Noone sponsored him to come to QT in 2004 to Barbados or 2006 - Scottland.
October 1978 issue (#155), list of prize winners before the annotated 1976 games, "1976 CHAMPION: DEREK OLDBURY, DEVON, ENGLAND." Oldbury is also listed in the Roster of Champions in many ACFB's.
The Rosters of Champions list Chinook as the 1996 champ. But the list of prize winners in ACFB #265 (not sure what year that was) says: "OVERALL WINNER: CHINOOK COMPUTER, U.S. OPEN CHAMPION: RON KING." So the ACF apparently wouldn't let a computer be champ.
I don't have many ACFB's from that era, so I don't know how these events were described in the ty. results pages. Hopefully other people can fill in the gaps of my collection. I assume it will be a surprise for Mr. Bruch and Mr. Albrecht to find out that they were ever National Champs.
The Roster of Champions in the ACF Bulletins you are speaking of just list the winner of the U.S. Open National TY not the U.S. Champions. You can not be National Champion of a country you don't live in, just like you can not be State Champion of a state you don't live in. I can not figure out why this is so hard to understand.
Why not simplify the whole process and do like we do in Ireland where we have an Irish Open Champion (say jimmy john Botswana )and a HOME-BASED CHAMPION....who is resident in Ireland........simpe!!!
