 Knowing Irma as I do I feel that she would have far greater success in promoting herself as a checker player to any potential sponsor, since she as so many more desirable marketable qualities--she has a wonderful personality, she is charming and has a positive attitude, she is very beautiful and has a pretty smile, she is outgoing, intelligent, and gets along well with her fellow checker players, plays a fine game of checkers, is honest and caring, and she is thoughtful of other peoples feelings, plus she is extremely photogenic, etc. etc. "Mr. Checkers"

 Jan I think that we all know the answer to your fine coments. If you were a potential sponsor and just read what has been posted on the ACF Forum in the last couple of weeks you would certainly find more there that would alienate you in everyway from wanting to invest any monies whatsoever in checkers--instead of ingratiating you into wanting to help promote our game. For every one step that Alan has taken to move checkers forward in a positive direction, inevitably with their own agendas of greed and maliciousness in mind, others have countered his hard work by making posts here on the forum that are extremely negative and take checkers two steps or more backwards. In the future I think that we can expect fewer monetary contributions to checkers as a result of their actions. "Mr. Checkers"

dont worry about sponsors seeing our forum . In stead worry about the members of the ACF and the guests that come here to read about their favorite game. I am appalled by what has been said here on thsi forum. Like when playing checkers ..:"think and think some more before you make a move" PPl should apply that same principle when they post here.

Personally, I thought it was a beautiful gesture of the ACF to support the player of SA, and to offer him a chance to play here in the US nationals. A dream came true for this man am sure. However, to my amazement, several others see reason to start a whole discussion about whether this was the right thing to do .. they see violations of rules, regulations, unfair treatment, even an argument whether this was to be called "sponsorship" or "financial support" . What???
Lets all be happy for the man from SA, encourage ACF / Alan to do more of this great work... and .. lets try to be a bit more humble

Jan, there were no several others objecting to this young south african man competing,Alex had the only objection as far as i can read here,i think everyone was in favour of Alans actions in getting him over, and we all applaud Alan for doing so.

Constitution of the American Checker Federation

ARTICLE II - POLICIES

Section 1 - Purpose
The purpose of the ACF shall be to increase and perpetuate interest in the game of Checkers (or Draughts) by promoting national tournaments, international team matches, world's title matches both by mail and cross-board and by encouraging regional, district and state tournaments, within its jurisdiction; also to co-operate in a friendly manner with similar associations of other countries and players of other countries, for the general advancement of the game throughout the world.

Jan, I agree with you 100%
It seems to me that Alan is doing his part to fulfill the Mission Statement of the ACF. There should be no reason to question him as to why he worked to make it possible for Lubabalo to make the trip to Vegas and play in the tournament.

The question should be, why has no one done something like this before?

Kudos to Alan for taking this step!!!!!

Palomino, you are absolutely right!!!

I think Alan is a great president, and deserves the respect from all of us.
We should be glad to have such dedicated man leading our ACF, and we should support him, trust him, and appreciate him for all that he has done , and will continue to do for the ACF.
