Yes. He was the only grandmaster in this event and his level is far above an average level of his opponents. Finishing only one point ahead (even with 2 points for bye) simply means that he wasn't in his perfect form. His points zone was 29-32 ... without much efforts.

Sune, you probably seriously underrate Shane McCoskey - he is very strong player.

Regards,

Alex
I have taken the time to compare you own results against these untalented irish players in 2007 and Shanes in 2009 in the regular rounds and there are 3 players that overlap:

2007 - Alex Moiseyev

Garret Owens 3 points
Charles McKenna 3 points
Frank Moran 3 points

2009 - Shane McCosker

Garret Owens 3 points
Charles McKenna 4 points
Frank Moran 2 points

Total Alex Moiseyev 9 points - Shane McCosker 9 points

Pawned! :D

I also didn't do it well in 2007 and finished with 30 points, but should probably have somewhere around 32-34.

Statistic is a big prostitute and can prove everything ! In addition to these 3 players I also was lucky to score 3 points against T. Watson, B. Durdyev and S. McCosker (other round with him was drawn).

I already said that you seriously underrate not only Shane but many other Irish players ... sort of disrespect. If some of them are not very strong players, it doesn't mean they are untalented or socks.

In attacking me, John, when alex is in the wrong, only shows the level to which checkers has sunk. What gives you the right to attack me in this way, when i am in the right here? This is only further evidence of the way that women are being treated in this chauvanistically dominated game of checkers, and it is a position which must end if women are to receive fairness.
Your attitude is victorian to say the least, and its time you moved into the 21st century. You display most definately the attitude that women are nothing and to shut them up,just attack them, and for a christian boy of only 22,that really doesnt show you in a very good light at all.

Then youre a very young 27 year old.As far as the ad nauseum debate went,if the truth makes you nauseaus, then i feel very sorry for you.You need to take those "i love alex" blinkers off and look at the facts with impartiality.

John, I consider you as a good person, why you come up with that thing of "Jan we know u hate Alex" ?...are you his lawyer?, why you have to give an opinion in all?, can't the rest give their own opinions? only you and Alex???.. Now, you now wonder if I am Jan's lawyer?....yes, I am on her side openly, I am not against Alex or you, just be fair and expect you will recieve what you gave... If Jan wanted to critizise Alex, for something that he started correcting her in her misspeling, now she wanted to do the same, maybe just to bother, who knows, but one thing I tell you, we women are not saints, I can imagine Alex's face smiling watching how you responded to Jan...I can imagine how he is smiling now reading my "stupid" post because only yours, Alex and the rest of men are important....Why Jan hates Alex????, I really wonder  , there is no reason at all as we can see here...so...
Just let us say something when we want, you will say: well, she said what she wanted and I said what I wanted about her, and now Irma is saying what she wants about me....THAT IS FAIR!
We women are free to speak, to say, to do whatever we want, whenever we want AS MEN DO.......PERIOD!
just lady.......

Someone left the cake out in the rain.

In German we have a word that means less then respect, but means that you still care for your worst enemy:

"Ruecksicht".

Is this a public pillory or a discusion forum?
We should not leave the cake in the rain.

To end this thread I want to post a game against a reknown player that I won't mention, as I think "Ruecksicht" is important.
So take out your boards and forget about your sorrows!

1. reknown player - Zachos,I
Offhand Internet, .2009

1.11-15 23-18 2.08-11 27-23 3.10-14 The Stirling Cross is now in fashion.I had many great games with it aginst Liam Stephens, Bernard Coll, Filip Kareta and Lindus Edwads, scoreing a few nice wins with white.I think White is very well posted for the complications that it offers. 23-19
[ 3...22-17 is a good alternative, but I prefer the text move as it leads to greater centre scope for white. ]
4.14:23 19:10 5.07:14 26:19 6.11-16 Aggressive, but also conceeding the central squares to white.
[ The setback is that white can play 6.04-08 , as Jack Coll at the German Open 2006 played against me, and White ends up in a very well known drawn line after 24-20 7.06-10 ]
[ A better approach in my mind is the tame 6.06-10 , which Michael Holmes played aginst me in Prague 2005, as red has no obligations in the centre. The first time I got into this line and the only game I lost with it. ]
6...19-15 Forced centralization, but like the great Nimzowitsch, which birtday anniversay we may clebrate on the 7th of November once said "don't despair, just centralize". 7.09-13 This seems to be my opponent's trademark. It does not centralize, but rather decentalize and is not suiting my style, but other players may have a different attitude.
[ 7.16-20 is the main line with great complications after 22-17 ( 7...24-19 is also playable but inferior to 7 ... 22-17.I played it to draw against another reknown opponent at the German Open 2006, but the story of that game is a different story that can be read in the upcoming German Open 2006 bulletin. ) 8.20:27 17:10 . Recently Dave Hawood scored with it against Jim Morisson at the QT in Stonehaven 2009, but Jim played bad. In fact, white is slightly better in this line. ]
7...32-27 Again played with the aim to control the central squares, remembering Nimzowitsch. 8.16-20 24-19 9.04-08?? My opponent may have invented this line, but he did not prepare it too well and he commits a thematical blunder. Can you spot the shot?

19-16! So here it goes... 10.12:19 15-10 11.06:15 22-17 12.13:22 25:04 The main point is that now, with material balanced, red is defenseless against 27-24 and will loose more material without compensation.White won, but red stuck to his 9-13 plan and later played it on another high ranked occasion. He is to be honored for that, and I hope that this game helped to improve his knowledge about the line.
White went on to win.

Greetinx from rainy and cloudy Dortmund,

Ingo Zachos

I recall losing that game as it was by means of a blunder. Still, it was a win to you I suppose! You both played well though :)

Well said Tommy. I think this forum is on the slippery slope, and could go the same way of George Miller's BBS. All in all maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing!!
