Re: IRISH OPEN /QUALIFER 2010
I know how honor pts work but how do Sonne/berger calculations work?

See your own post above - 3.1.2.
Basically it is a modified system of the Hon Pts as we know it.

Although Hon Points (or variant) are nearly always used to split ties
(in USA Tys they are used in preference to result against each other)
it inevitably means the players are subject to the luck of the pairings in each round.
For important events like this, I think a play off system would be fairer.

It is true that King came in 2nd. I came in 9th place. I lost to King and to Webster. I did beat both Durdyev's, Colin Young, and Jim Morrison. I had a couple of drawn rounds with other foreigners.

Congrats to Michelle on a fine victory, I was confident that he would make the top 3 so I must admit to being a little surprised that he won, I have always wanted to see how he would fare in a Major tournament at the anglo american style as he is such a great player. He is the Tinsley of Italian draughts and is a class act and a gentleman to boot. Congrats also to Ron and Shane.

1st M. Borghetti 23pts (SB 417), 2nd R. King 23pts (SB 412) , 3rd S. Mc Cosker 20pts. Congratulations to M. Borghetti on winning the overall QT 2010 and having the right to challenge Alex Moiseyev for the World 3 Move Championship Title.

My hot congratulations to Michele ! Neither me nor my wife and kids being in Italy - nice place for visit, not for living !Hugh Devlin wrote:Congratulations to M. Borghetti on winning the overall QT 2010 and having the right to challenge Alex Moiseyev for the World 3 Move Championship Title.
As I said before - there were no strangers in 3-moves world title matches and upcoming 2011 WCM is not exception. It will be my pleasure to play match with Michele and defend my title. In difference with Ron King, Michele is very good outstanding book player and it will very interesting contest.

Re: IRISH OPEN /QUALIFER 2010
I just received in email an official final standing cross table from QT referee Graham Young. So - it is final now that M. Borghetti from Italy is an official Challenger in the upcoming 3-moves WCM 2011 and I accept this fact.
Congratulations to all participants and organisers. Ron made one mistake only - he shouldn't play in Irish Open, but it seems like he hardly accept the fact that he is not in his late 20's today
Shane played very well but according Hugh comments - had little luck with openings. I have very small doubts that Shane has very bright future and outstanding checkers career.
I am fantastically happy that Michele became a winner and finally broke Suki monopoly in 3-moves QT. This is really very good news. Unfortunately I should partially agree with Ingo who said that Anglo-American Draughts geographical map has been changed and American & UK players diactation and monopoly somehow is limited now.
I am probably the last old crocodile on another side of barricade
What an outcome !!!!!!!!!!
To all my fans - wait and see. There is only one way to prove pudding - eat it !
Respectfully,
Alex Moiseyev

todays two TOP MEN of UK and Irish draughts . ...............but these two boys are from Ireland Billy??
When i got the official email result from Graham im thinking ..........is this the beginning of the end of the OLD guard ,bring in the new. Then my dark side is saying i wonder what the "mouth pieces" would have said if it had been two of the Durdyeyev family at the final table./
