Re: IRISH OPEN /QUALIFER 2010
This list certainly made me a day !!!
I personally encouraged some American players to attend it (other didn't need it) and also - my friends from Israel. I know Mr. Shafir, Israel National 2010 Champion more than 35 years (!) back to Soviet Union. He will not be an easy opponent for everyone.
Same about Michael Shabshai. And of course I am very glad and happy to see my friend Joe Schwartz in this company. He seriously improved in the past several years and will definitely being in leading group in Ireland.
As a World Champion and fan of 3-moves style I am very interesting promotingf this particular style and very good and strong overturn for 3-moves QT makes me feel very excited.
Respectfully,

Its a great line up,yu might say the IDA "dont do haf-ways" the only blot and my personal regret is the absence of Lubablo Kondlo from S.A.now that would really epitomise a collection of the BEST in the world as of this moment in time.Who would dare pick a winner?/but it promises to be a fantastic Q/Ty and i presume a good strong management will need to be in place to placate such powerful characters all in the one arena fighting for the top prize.

Hello Tommy: ( since you inquired)
I am 100% sure NO players from South Africa will attend. Yes, I know this is very sad, but true. GM Kondlo of Port Elizabeth, SA. had his trip to last year's qualifier paid for in full by an Ohio sponsor. The sponsor lost what he paid for plane tickets, etc.
I have tried in the past to get along with Colin Webster but no more. When Kondlo came here for the GAYP nationals that he won and later the WQ in Vegas I got him sponsorship and personally got him his Visa for both events. Colin Webster compained to me for my getting Kondlo's Visa from the embassy in South Africa for both events . Last year I did not get involved and Colin Webster saw to it Kondlo did not get his Visa to enter the qualifier.
Am I unhappy over all of this ? You betcha !
Also do not reply to my post unless you have ALL the facts on the above troubling matter.

Re: IRISH OPEN /QUALIFER 2010
Well Alan yu know yourself life can be tough sometimes and doesnt always run true.On this forum we are all allowed to speak our bit within reason of course and while some have got the upper hand momentarily i think in the end the whole thing is accepted in some form or another and we get on with it and accept the outcome ,regardless if yu like it or not(if yu get my drift).
So while we may not be one big happy family we have a healthy discussion/arguement on points of view in that moment in time and we do that, because in the main we are somehow mature enough to "take a fall" every now n then.Disregardless of some who assume they win every time but they have somehow yet to mature in the pride department but not bad people i must say,i dont think ive seen any unanimous victories and so there lies they healthy state of this forum as i presume yu might also and that is without being presumptious in any manner.Im sure Master Cayton will help me with my grammer if he thinks it might do me any good.LOL.
Hmm where was i??...............oh right!!....as ive said already and in danger of repeating myself all in all we have good player, bad players, mediocre players, journey men,1-0 men ,clock men non clock men.I mean just think if this was a stew how many different ingredients would be in the "melting pot" ,well its mindboggling to think ,in all honesty its enough to "turn your brain" inside its nice lair of protective skull bone shell almost as much as downing a big lemonade bottle full of Irish "POTEEN" (for the uneducated in such matters that is a "pure 100%) alchol drink with mind altering properties). So everything being even ,or as even as even can be expected i think we can scowl and fight and attack and retaliate ,hit below the "belt" as good as the next man (shall we say a large chunk of" give and take").And any IDJIT who thinks his or her own perfectly "rational and SELFISH" opinions are are gods gift to the underprivileged ,misunderstood members of this forum because he/she knows whats best for us .............then i dont think so!!.
To sum up what i was wanting to say from the first paragraph THERE IS ONE THING THAT REMAINS ABOVE ALL THATS NEVER BEEN RESOLVED AND THATS THE SITUATION THAT REMAINS IN S.AFRICA.And what more the people who might hold some sway in this situation are apparently doing nothing, have done nothing, and are going to do nothing. Its really a crying shame in this day and age this has been allowed to fester like an open sore.
Ive been here before and everybody knows my opinion on Colin Webster.
I say to anyone with a heart beating inside their body to end this SHAMEFUL escapade, take the handcuffs off Lubablo Kondlo and treat him like a human being and let him play his draughts.
Ps..........and i hope THIS time there wont be any REQUESTS to delete this post.

Hi Tommy:
Forget the proper use of Englsih
You said it all my distant friend. Mind Sports South Africa needs a new president for sure. I intend to write a letter to the sports council there and hope you and any others reading this post will do the same!! The address is easily found on Google
You know Tommy, part of my ACF dities according to the ACF mission statement for the president is to reach out to any and all countries who have 8x8 players and do my best to get them to one of our ACF Nationals . The same holds true for getting them to a World Qualifier. Kondlo is not all for himself. In fact he gave me names and addresses of other players in his area who would love to come and compete but cannot do so. He had me write letters to their employeers ,etc. asking for sponsorship, etc. The players in Kondlo's area have little to no resources and need our support !!
Thanks for your post Tommy.

Hi Jan...................Sorry for not getting back to you sooner but i didnt have the detail till now and i didnt know all the Turkmenistanians by name or if they were male or female.
Now its a bit clearer on instruction from John Reade (WCDF) there are two in each section i.e. two in mens QT,two in the womens, and two in the youth section. So i presume everything is in order as of now.....Tommy.

Re: IRISH OPEN /QUALIFER 2010
Its obvious Webster is still a maggot and whether its a color issue or a personality difference but i suspect more a CONTROL issue. And by the response on the forum i think no one cares really either in America or Ireland as to the outcome and we have some big hitters here on the forum, to say im surprised at the "silence" is an understatement. I intend to take this up at the IDA AGM and will be putting forward a vote of "no confidence " on the agenda as to the behaviour of Colin Webster as President of the S.A. MMSA..and his attitude towards the only S.A. GM Lubalo Kondlo.
This to my mind this overshadows a fantastic World QT in Ireland.

Re: IRISH OPEN /QUALIFER 2010
Hi Alan,
I had a look at the FORUM just now, the 1st time in over a month. I see an old issue re-emerging again regarding Kondlo and Colin Webster. It doesn't take much to rekindle this long suffering issue. I looked at this thread believing it had something to do with the Irish Open and QT but that seems it took a familiar detour.
I note your comment that "Last year I did not get involved and Colin Webster saw to it Kondlo did not get his Visa to enter the qualifier.". That is a very strong accusation to place on a public forum and I can only assume that you have evidence to support this. Can you produce this evidence as I'd like to see it?
Last year Lubabulo Kondlo was officially nominated by Mind Sports South Africa as their representative in the Qualification Tournament. I personally supplied Kondlo with a letter from the WCDF (both Via Email attachment and originals Via Airmail) inviting him to participate in the QT, and alongside a glowing reference, I included all details to enable him to receive a Visa.
It was a shoct to us that Kondlo did not arrive on the Isle Of Wight, and the information I later received from South Africa (which I can make available - including a series of correspondences between Colin Webster, Lubabulo Kondlo, and others) shows no fault on behalf of MSSA.
It is also interesting to note that South African's do not require a Visa to come to Ireland, so there is no issue about being unable to receive a visa this year. Hugh

Re: IRISH OPEN /QUALIFER 2010
The dogs in the streeet know which side Hugh Devlins on when it comes to Colin Webster and thats fair enough he entitled to that not forgeting he got an all expenses paid trip to S.A. some yrs ago, i assume courtesy of the SSMA of which Webster is the President.
As far as this as he puts it is "an old issue re-emerging" its more like an issue with has been glossed over by the WCDF and brushed the carpet and never been dealt with,so this its far from over.On the other hand he has now set himself up as representative and defender of Webster by demanding answers off Alan Millhone in respect of the subject of last years QT?? Going as far as demanding to see as he put it to Mr Millhone.......... " the evidence of this" thus now setting himself up as judge and jury as well??
I would expect Hugh Devlin to come clean on the subject of where his allegiance lies in all of this,as one would expect that as President of the WCDF, he not only be impartial but SEEN TO BE IMPARTIAL........
Furthermore i want make it clear i have no personal quarrel with Hugh Devlin .........Tommy.
