An interesting philosophy, Mr. Bauer.
Kings of Egypt and kings of checkers, and even us poor losers and nobodies, all end up the same, no matter how proud or humble. The road only runs one way.
By the way, Ozymandias, as I'm sure you know, was Ramses II.

Gary & Liam i thoroughly enjoyed the poem and the article about Egypt, and although i wouldnt recommend going there now. One day i thoroughly advice you go. I have had the pleasure and it is truly amazing. I have added a few pics here i am not sure they will work.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge about checkers & also Egypt.

Jason Solan wrote:The blitz tournament is really intriguing to me. I'm generally not a fan of GAYP because I feel like I just keep playing the same game every round, so I wasn't planning on attending the national tournament. But a short 1 day event where I would only need to use a day of vacation time instead of a week might pique my interest enough to attend the blitz tournament.
I agree totally Jason, if i was close to USA i would be there for sure.
May i ask help Jason, how can i stop my browser, posting twice? i swear its not me clicking like a squirrel on red bull that is causing this... any advice? i use google chrome

Thanks in advance

Greetings Chee Xiong:

In view of your support of Alex's right to engage in "trash talking" on this forum, in addition to his own sense of entitlement to do so, I have a question:

Does this mean that the World Champion will no longer object if other posters engage in discussions related to the "promotion" of checkers, which he has previously described as "trash talk" and has tried to oppose?

To wit:

The following was written on the date of September 13, 2010:

I hope this time more players join with me and support my efforts to free this forum from all "promotional garbage & provoke posts" and make forum more professional and enjoyable.

In addition, the following was written by the World Champion on the date of January 13, 2011, which has been quoted below from a currently "locked" thread, which prevented the automatic "quote" function from working:

"I heard all this promotional trash talk 15 and 10 and 5 years ago."

I want you all to know I did not make this thread for trash talking or to bash anyone. This was put on here for everyone to know that I had a brainstorm of thought on creating something different for maybe a future tournament that would attract interest.

If you all want to trash talk or bash one another take it to broken boards or erics site. This is not what this thread is all about.

If this continues Ii will say that you might be removed from forum. let's all work together and help make this tournament a good one.

I see this happen in kurnik all the time. Not here please.

Kim, don't waste your time and nerves. Work on Blitz rules and regulations which I sent you.
I am playing checkers, not chess.

Hi Everyone,

Some in the minor division already play blitz checkers. Once while playing in the master division at a national tourney, a couple of minor players were sitting next to me. Both groups started at the same time. I selected the 3 move opening from the cards and now it was my opponents move. Before my opponent moved, the minor players played and finished all four of their games!! I was amazed anyone could play 4 games before we could even move one move. Mr. Green from Kentucky always enjoyed moving very fast.

All the best,
Mac

Greetings:

Blitz Checkers has never appealed to me.

I used to watch people play Blitz Chess and that never appealed to me either.

I tried to play a Blitz Chess game once and lost my Queen in about 10 seconds.

I guess I'm not a "Blitz" type person.

When it comes to Checkers, I prefer the quite and contemplative mood of a traditional old-fashioned game, in which one can become so totally absorbed by the game that one can lose all sense of time.

I enjoy that state of mind of timelessness that such a game can bring.

I'm also the type of person who can sit through a 9-inning baseball game in a state of total bliss and tranquility.

Nevertheless, I have the highest admiration, and maybe a little bit of envy, for those who can play Blitz Checkers and play it well.

It's just not my style.

Best Wishes,

Dennis Cayton

I also share that admiration for blitz players, Mr Cayton. And i agree about the feeling or mood one can get while getting involved in a game... you expressed it far better than i could.

That is a wonderful anecdote Mac i liked it very much :) maybe they were in a hurry to watch you guys or to go sightseeing :). I think we should start a thread in the general discussion board, called CHECKERS ANECDOTES :)

There you have the essence of it.

Eloquently stated, Mr. Cayton.
