Re: World Championship Match : Ron King vs. Sergio Scarpetta
After 12 games maestro and World Champion Mr. Ron King got a lead 1 game by winning G10. Challenger Mr. Sergio Scarpetta definetely missed a win game #12 and rumors say that he also missed a win in G9.
here is a text of game #10 which Mr. King won. Many thanks to Mr. Shane McCosker who kindly shared it with me.

Here is position in Game 12 where Mr. Scarpetta missed a win
Red to move and win.

Here 5-9 wins but Mr. Scrapetta played 14-18 instead which leaded to long ending (after 21-17 18x25 17-14) with some edge for Ron but finally ended up with draw
After 5-9 game continue: 13x6 2x9 16-12 9-13 12-8 (or 19-16 14-18 12-8 18x25 8-3 25-30 3-8 30-26 8-3 4-8* 3x12 26-23 27x18 20x27 32x23 15x22 etc RW) 11-16 12x19 4x11 12-8 14-17 21x14 10x26 8-3 7-10 3-7 10-14 7x16 26-31 16-11 15-18 11-16 18-22 16-19 22-25 19-15 25-30 24-19 31x24 19-16 24-19 15x24 20x27 32x23 30-26 23-19 26-23 RW

Did Sergio manage to draw game 12? There was a chance he might have let Ron get First Position.

Re: World Championship Match : Ron King vs. Sergio Scarpetta
Yes, game #12 ended with draw. Sergio played ending accurately. I think I mentioned in my post a total score and result of this particular game ... isn't ?john reade wrote:Did Sergio manage to draw game 12? There was a chance he might have let Ron get First Position.

So scenario today was ...
G9 - probably Sergio missed a win
G10 - Ron won
G11 - pieceful short draw
G12 - Sergio missed a win and after then long ending happened with some chances for Ron. Game ended with draw.
Bloody day !
In addition I saw some of my friends around the world. Even online experts came in to leartn some moves and how to play checkers.

Re: World Championship Match : Ron King vs. Sergio Scarpetta
Many thanks to Ryan Pronk who shared this with me. Here is a text of Game9 without long ending play. Most important part of game - well known PP. No win for Sergio at any point. I am appologise for posting unproved rumors and noise provided by online player in chat room.
I trusted him - my mistake !
11-15, 23-19, 8-11, 22-17, 3-8, 25-22, 11-16, 27-23, 16-20, 31-27, 9-14, 29-25, 8-11, 19-16, 12x19, 23x16, 5-9, 17-13, 1-5, 22-17, 14-18, 26-23, 18-22, 25x18, 15x22, 23-18, 9-14, 18x9, 5x14, 24-19, 22-25, 28-24, 25-29, 19-15, 11x18, 24-19, 29-25, 19-15, 10x19, 17x3, 19-24, 21-17, 24x31, 30x21, 31-26, 16-11, 26-22, 17-14, 18-23, 14-9, 23-26, 11-7, 2x11, 9x2
Ryan wrote: "And Ron played out a long, long ending, keeping the Red piece on 4, but it was an eventual draw.
So ... Sergio missed a win only in game #12 as I showed in previous post. It will be a true to say that this win is kind of "computer play" - very tricky and complicated and can be easy missed. However, in position on diagram it is quite obvious that after 14-18 as played - no winning chances for red and 5-9 is absolutely safe.
Now "score pressure" is raising on challenger and I think we should see more interesting games in match in the 2nd part. Nothing over yet !

In game 10, didn't Sergio have a draw at the end before he lost it?
Obvious to you only Alex lol. Though I would have gone 5-9 too I think.Alex_Moiseyev wrote: However, in position on diagram it is quite obvious that after 14-18 as played - no winning chances for red and 5-9 is absolutely safe.

Here are my express comments on Game 10.
R. King vs S. Scarpetta
11-15 23-19 9-14 27-23 8-11 22-18 15-22 25-9 5-14 29-25 11-15 25-22 7-11 24-20 15-24 28-19 11-15 32-28 15-24 28-19 6-9 22-18 4-8 20-16 (A) 3-7 26-22 9-13 18-9 8-11 22-18 11-20 31-27 13-17 21-14 10-17 19-15 12-16 15-11 17-22 (B) 11-8 22-26 8-3 26-31 3-10 31-24 9-5 24-27 10-14 20-24 14-17 24-28 17-22 27-24 18-14 28-32 23-18 24-19 14-10 32-27 22-17 27-23 17-14 16-20 30-25 20-24 25-21 24-27 21-17 27-31 17-13 31-26 13-9 26-22 RW
A. See diagram #1.
#1. White to move

This is well known position to PP where 18-15 leads to famous Brooklyn Win and 31-27 is correct. Sergio played 20-16 which is unknown to me and is still a draw but a bit suspicious and unsafe. Ron find an excellent plan:
3-7*, 26-22, 9-13*, 18x9, 8-11, 22-18, 11x20, 31-27, 13-17, 21x14, 10x17, 19-15, 12-16, 15-11, 18-22 and reached position diagram #2.
B. See diagram #2
#2. White to move and draw

18-14*
Here 18-14* draw the game after 22-26 (or 1-5 9-6 2-18 23-14 Draw), 23-18, 26-31, 18-15, 31x24, 15-10 Draw.
Instead, in position of diagram #2 Sergio played losing 11-8? and after then Ron didn't miss a win and played it perfectly to the end of game.

The 20-16 move on the defiance line is the published play from Lees' Guide, I play it all the time. 31-27 is better for white, but 20-16 is ok. The way Ron played it however was genius and probably confused Sergio.

We probably never know - if Ron was aware of this play as result of analyses and his giant GAYP practice, or ... he simply find it cross aboard !Chexhero wrote:The way Ron played it however was genius and probably confused Sergio.

I thought the losing move in Game 10 was 10-14 at move 48. 10-15 would have drawn?

John, 10-15 in position on diagram still loses after 27-31 18-14 31-26 23-18 26-22 etc. It is also true, that after 10-14 27-31 red wins as well

Re: World Championship Match : Ron King vs. Sergio Scarpetta
John, you can write your question in Lankashir Newsletter and ask readers. But don't offer price because almost each red move in your line (and at the end) still wins. After 19-15 red can win by 26-22, 2-6 and 20-24john reade wrote:What if 10-15 27-31 30-25 31-26 15-19 26-22 19-12 22-15?

2-6 instead of 26-22 seems to do it.
