John,

Miki lost the ending in Game 1 due to time shortage. Sometimes it happens. Neither player was in
a lost but both lost due to shortage of time.

Mac .......i think white was in a loss on the board anyway. After 24-20 [WEAK]the game jus turns in reds favor and a few weak WHITE moves after saw white in a hopeless ending.Had white played 2419 instead been a different story,is Alex waining??

No , Tommy, the ending draws. As a matter of fact, it is a simple draw and Alex
showed Miki the draw after the game.

Hi Liam'

Red's 16th move 7-11 was the loser and 6-10 draws easily but Miki was short on time and moved 7-11
rapidly but it did not draw and Alex saw the draw also. This game like game 31 would have been
drawn if not rushed for time. Sorry , I don't know how to put the checkers into a board as you did.

1. 9-13 24-20 2. 11-16 20x11 3. 7x16 22-18 4. 16-19 23x16 5. 12x19 25-22 6. 5-9 27-24 7.
3-7 24x15 8. 10x19 32-27 9. 7-10 18-15 10. 2-7 22-18 11. 10-14 27-23 12. 8-11 15x8 13. 4x11
23x16 14. 11x20 29-25 15. 14x23 26x19 16. 6-10 *(Draws but he went 7-11 as was rushed for
time.

Hi Mac,

I thought Tommy was referring to the game Miki won today (Game 31), but you are referring to the first game of the match won by Alex. Sorry - my mistake.

Hi Liam,

Yes, I was talking about game 1. Yes, Alex lost game 31 because of time pressure but
Miki also lost due to time pressure. That was my point to Tommy. Tommy was saying that Miki
was already in a loss but he wasn't until the 7-11 move. Miki is playing a lot of variations that
Sergio says comes from the Italian game which is original and not played in the American game
so Alex is playing crossboard for the most part. Alex played game 32 very well but he played
game 31 awful as he really had a slight advantage and his 2420 was not as good as 2419 would
have been. The pitch completely destroyed his game. Hope I can stay up tonight and watch
the next 4 games.

Hi Tommy,

Now we are talking apples and apples. Sorry for the confusion. Still hope dear
friend that someday you will be able to visit Las Vegas. My wife and I would welcome
you as our guest. By the way, they have an Irish Bar I could take you too.

Your friend,
Mac

Skullcracker Question

Post by Richard Pask »

Hello!

Can someone with access to the 10-piece databases tell me if the 3-8 defence (as compared with the standard 3-7 used in the current WCM) used by Chinook v MFT draws or not? I certainly wouldn't recommend it, but as I'm currently compiling my revised version of the Skullcracker for 21st CC, the 10-15s, I'd really appreciate knowing the definitive answer.

Many thanks, Richard

Hi Richard,

I think this is the play you are talking about. I think 3-8 will draw but I never would make that move.
Here is the play for you.

1. 10-15 22-17 2. 15-19 24x15 3. 11x18 23x14 4. 9x18 26-23 5. 6-9 23x14 6. 9x18 30-26 7.
5-9 17-14 8. 9-13 26-23 9. 1-5 28-24 10. 8-11 24-20 11. 11-15 21-17 12. 13x22 27-24 13.
18x27 25x11 14. 7x16 32x23 15. 3-8(A)20x11 16. 8x15 23-19 17. 15-18 24-20 18. 2-7 29-25 19.
7-11 31-27 20. 4-8 25-21 21. 18-22 27-23 22. 22-25 23-18 23. 25-30 14-10 24. 30-26 10-7
25. 26-23 18-15 26. 11x18 7-2 27. 23x16 20x4 28. 18-22 4-8 29. 12-16 8-11 30. 16-20 11-15
31. 20-24 2-6 32. 24-27 15-18 33. 22-25 18-22 34. 25-30 21-17 35. 27-32 1/2-1/2

(A) I don't like this move at all. Hope this is what you were asking. Glad to see you back
from your illness.

Well done to all involved. Indeed its a big moment when a World Title changes hands and my thoughts are with Alex at this time who has had a glorious reign and done much to promote the game and World title.

However, now we have our "Seventh" World 3 Move Champion of the modern era and I'm sure this transition of title will have positive effects and do much to elevate the game in Italy and mainland Europe. Hail King Miki!
