Welsh Open 2007 ?
First 3 in the Welsh Open were Terry Thomas, Lindus Edwards and Liam Stephens. Jan Mortimer played. She was in the lead after 4 rounds but then lost to Lindus. Jan was the only one to get a win from Terry. Full results are in the September EDA Journal.
welsh open
Am presently at John Reades before going to Vegas.Had a really great time in Wales, and finally met my friend Lindus, which was a great pleasure. The welsh open had 16 entrants. The first day was a excellent day for me where i was leading for a short time, until i played Lindus who beat me in endgame. The second day i got all draws ,but was unable to get a win to get into the first 3 places,i got 4th.There were 5 of us on 11 points.Liam managed to get ahead on honour points. It was a real; pleasure to play in the Welsh open, and John Morgon did an excellent job organizing it.Was great to catch up on Liam again,we stayed at the same lodgings.
Last night John Reade took me to the Lancashire draught players, where i was priviledged to play a few of the players including Danny Oliphant, where we had a exciting draw.
Have been looking around Manchester and yesterday Johns wife Sue took me to the coronation street site, which was great to see.John and Sues hospitality is excellent. I will fly to Vegas on Friday, and look forward to meet and catch up with old American friends.

Re: Welsh Open 2007 ?
Hi Tommy,
I refrained from mentioning the results of the Welsh Open as I
felt it inappropriate to do so within my message of condolence concerning the late Gene Lindsay. I was in a state of shock following Gene's passing and decided to wait for a respectable period to elapse before providing the results of the Welsh Open. Seeing that Dr John Reade and Jan Mortimer have now provided us with a full account it would of course be superfluous for me to do so.
Congratulations to Terry Thomas on winning the event.
I was not disappointed with my performance as I was in no losses and missed no wins, improving upon published play in two games which resulted in wins. With a score of no losses in 76 Welsh Open games over the years I am quite pleased
Best wishes always,
Lindus.

Re: Vegas Baby!
Welcome to jungle, Sune ! I wish you and all other players in all events in Las Vegas good luck and having a good time. I still plan to annotate these game (all 3 events) and perhaps combine this with fine Jim Loy annotations of GAYP Nat. 2007 and create a "GAYP 2007" book. Will see ...MostFamousDane wrote:flying to vegas on 9/11
BTW. Was a Welsh Open 2007 ty a GAYP event or 3-moves ? If GAYP - you can send me games and I will include them into this book.
BTW2. Congratulations to all Welsh Open players and winners.

Hi Alex,
The event was freestyle. I will post my games in the games section shortly and will try to obtain others so you may use them as you think best. Good luck to you in the forthcoming Irish Open.

Hi, Lindus !
76 unbeaten games in the row is quite a record ! Sign of master and stability.
YES, any of your games and other players from Welsh Open 2007 are highly wanted and appreciated. I also will add here my games from TN GAYP 2007 and asking anyone - if you have any games played in official GAYP events in 2007 - please, send them to me, and they will be annotated and included into book.
Regards,
Alex
