Zoja Golubeva (Latvia) is the current Womens World Champion, and she is also the 2008 WMSG 10x10 Womens International Draughts Gold Medalist. Darya Tkachenko (Ukraine) is the challenger, and a former Womens World Champion.

Zoja Golubeva is in my age range. I remember her 30 years ago and always being her fan. As of today she is 12 times (!) 10x10 Woman World Champion - more than A. Chijov (10 times).

I am betting on Zoja in this match. Nothing wrong with young Daria and her play, but ... even today after 30 years I am still Zoja fan

This match also had some troubles and was in big question several months ago. Reason ... yes, of course - financial deal ! Finally Daria wrote a letter to Mayor of her home town and match was secured.

2011 turns out to be an eventful year for Women's World Championships. An FMJD Match in June, a WCDF Match in August, and an FMJD Tournament in September. The FMJD Match and FMJD Tournament are a continuation of the same FMJD 10x10 Women's Title. It just happened that the Match and Tournament were in the same calender year. The Tournament was held in Rivne, Ukraine on September 4-18. The winner is Tamara Tansykkuzhina of Russia who regained the World Championship. Taking Second place is Matrena Nogovitsyna of Russia. They tied for first with 19 points each, but the tie breaker was that Tamara had one more win than Matrena. Viktoriya Motrichko of Ukraine took third place.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Lyublyana (Luba) Turiy of the USA participated in the Rivne, Ukraine
Tournament. --George Hay
