Lubabalo arrived today. He, Suki, and I have been catching up on several checker news items. Ron King is not sure about Jack Francis and Schoolboy, but thinks Jack still might show. Jim Morrison is here, but not playing until WQT. Anthony Bishop still coming for WQT only. Our good friend Garrett Owens arrived and will play WQT only.

On this Italian Open tournament, we have 11 one-game rounds, with Ron being seated at Livestream board for all games. I played Ron in Rd. 1. With the dark colors (brown in this case) he opened 11-15 22-17 7-11!, and 17-14 lead to a draw. Ron won his other 5 games today, including at least one game on 27-20 2nd Double Corner. Ron leads by 2 pts, but he still has to play Amangul, Scarpetta and Tovagliaro in the morning, and I have played those 3 already.

Gotta run to the evening checkers dinner buffet....

What do you like about checkers?: I enjoy learning more and more as i go. despite its alleged simplicity the game is incredibly complex and rewarding.
