The National GAYP Tournament Coverage
Each year we have had many online players who could not attend our tournaments. But coverage at times has been limited because most of the players would be playing and would only post once in a great while. I did the World Qualifier as I was playing took pictures also played. Which was a handful. But if permitted by the ACF committee I would do a full editorial with pictures.
This would include Masters , Majors and Minors. All games of each pairings, with interviews of all players. I believe that it is time we turn over how we promote ALL tournaments. We have always looked only at the masters and their games. I think we should change that to All players involved.
I will also have CD's for sale\:
All pictures / with games $100.00
Pictures only / $50.00
Games only /$75.00
All money coming in will go to help with the tools of teaching kids.
But this will only happen if it is approved by ACF.
Ideas are welcome
Thank you

JR Smith is another of the "unsung heroes making ACF checkers a better game for people to enjoy both as players and spectators. Our ACF president and all officers deserve and should receive all ACF members thanks for the great job they are doing. Remember, one cannot please all of the people all of the time and there are some who only see sour grapes all the time too. I think the following needs to be said to my good friend John Acker. John, Wake up and smell the roses, all is not lost, join us at future tournaments. We all need to step back, swallow our pride, and continue to participate in the great game of competitive checkers.

Well said Neil. There have been complaints about the ACF officers in the past from some people, but since the election ended, we have been seeing some great progress including the soon addition of rating titles, online players coming to tournaments, and now a great plan to make checkers more professional. I believe the ACF chose the right leaders!

Re: The National GAYP Tournament Coverage
Kim, I offer you position of ACF GAYP 2015 Secretary. From everything I read in this topic, I think Tournament Secretary responsibilities are well fitting into your definitions. I will ask other ACF Exec's if they are OK with this.

Re: The National GAYP Tournament Coverage
hello Alex,
I have always even as a low rated player loved this game. When suki gave me an eye opener and helped me learn the basics of this game I new then I wanted to learn more. It has been 16yrs now. I may not be a master players as you and others but in my mind I am a master of loving checkers. If you understand what I mean. Now I do have to ask you this. In the ACF Bylaws there is no ACF GAYP Secretary right? Do I need a position like this no. For what I do is because I want to not because I have too.
I have I believe become the ACFs Mom so to speak. I treat each person I meet at a tournament the same, No matter if they are a master or a minor. The kids and those who are just beginners I try to help make each one welcome. This should be as my mother told me once, Be an example, treat people you meet as you would like to be treated and I think I have over the years. Times are changing for this game to stay alive we need to start changing. I have offered to take pictures and do a editorial on our Nationals because it could bring maybe new players, or the games played could be used as a tool to teach. Just like the sixth has helped many.
And alex you for one have been for many years a champion, Won many tournaments now you are players rep. Here is the time for you to not only be for the masters but also for every player young and old. Master to beginner. That too me is a Players Rep.
And I respect you as you know and always will. And maybe someday I might be a master
And thank you Neil for your reply.

Re: The National GAYP Tournament Coverage
Kim, there is ACF Secretary position (Travis Weddle), who also is ACF Exec Committee member, but I had in mind something else.
I was thinking about Secretary of specific event - ACF GAYP National 2015. There is a lot of paperwork around big tournament, but still enough time to make pictures, take interviews and do other important things.
If you don't like title "Secretary", how about - "ACF GAYP 2015 Press-Media, Photographer & Broadcasting " ?
Anyway, I really appreciate your idea and you have my full support.
Regards,
Alex

Re: The National GAYP Tournament Coverage
hello Alex,
No need for a position title. But I do believe that everything should be place in a data base. That is tournaments. pictures, games. Even title matches. The more exposure the better. We can't stay in a cave and not venture out and then think we will get others to come join.
And I know there is a secretary but the position u quoted it does not. I hope one of these days checkers will come back and we start growing. But we need to help everyone of us.
