Checker Events Calendar

I've created a google calendar for checkers events. This should make it easier to find both tournaments and things like club meetings.
I've made it public so anyone should be able to view it or sync their personal calendar to it on their PC or phone.
I'm also creating a map to help players find the events easier, although I haven't quite figured out how to link everything together nicely yet.
I'm trying to create a common interface so that anyone with a forum account can add an event.

The 2011 (11-Man) National in Greensboro, NC
The 2011 (11-Man) National is scheduled for February 10th - 13th 2011 (Thursday thru Sunday) at Econo Lodge and Suites, 120 Seneca Rd, 27406 Greensboro, NC (336) 275-9575. We have a block of 20 rooms reserved under "North Carolina Checkers" at a special rate of $49.99 + tax for double queens or kings available May 9th - 14th. We can use Hotel playing room or the Libby Hill Restaurant meeting room. Rooms will be held until January 27th Directions: Take (US 29, 70, I-40), South Greensboro, exit 221 go south on S Elm Eugene St, left on Seneca Rd, Hotel on left. The number of participants will determine if we play at hotel or Libby Hill Seafood Restaurant, 3011 Randleman Road, Greensboro, NC 27406  (336)-275-7688 which is a short distance from hotel. 2011 Tennessee Open March 4th – 6th 2011
The Tennessee State Open Checker Tournament will be held on (Friday thru Sunday)  March 4 - 6, 2011, at the Americas Best Value Inn & Suites, in Lebanon, Tennessee. The Inn is located on Highway 231 (822 Cumberland Street) near I-40 (take exit 238 north off I-40).  The tournament consists of (3) divisions.  Two rounds will be played on Friday, four on Saturday, and two on Sunday.  Registration will begin at 1 PM followed by a business meeting at 3 PM.  Play will start at 4 PM on Friday and end Sunday at 1 PM.  For reservations, call 1-615-449-5781 and tell them you are a checker player.  The room rates will be $42.00 plus tax.  Please make your reservations early.  For more information, call Frank Davis at 1-931-552-4246.  Submitted by Frank Davis.

2011 Illinois State Open April 2nd – 3rd 2011

A few minor bugs, but seems to be working for creating a new one.... I was hoping to get the bugs worked out before posting this, but I'm heading out of town for the weekend

Will hopefully allow you to create an entry on the calendar. I'm still having problems that the calendar API doesn't accept the username and password all the time, so I'm capturing the data locally too. If you add an entry and it doesn't show up on the calendar, let me know and I'll re-sync the local copy with the google copy.

Also, JR (and others with websites), there is information available to display the calendar in a more friendly format that I can help you with if you like.

I would like to eventually go back in the past and put in important events that happened in the checkers world and make a timeline. I would love some help on that from anyone that is willing, but please don't start on this until I've worked out all the bugs.

There's still a bug that forces you to put in an end date even if it's a 1 day event or there is no end date.

Jason, please, add as option (not required) Sponsor line here. It could be Federation/Association, corporate sponsor, private sponsor, or just a simple list of contributors etc.

Sounds like a good idea, but I like having a separate section for Affiliation and for Sponsor. Not all affiliations actually sponsor the tournament, but it would be nice to know under which "flag" they fly. Sponsors on the other hand should be held up higher with the ability to provide links/uploads so we can help advertise for them.
