King Me : Documentary Movie

Post by kim willis »

I just got home from ireland and jumped another plane this weekend to be one of the VIP guests of the Lo Conti's. Alans family attended also. Dr. Beckwith and me, would say about 300 more. As we waited in the theater I looked around and saw many ages. And I would say no checker players but maybe 4 lol.
As it started I was very impressed. The theater was quiet not 1 person left their seat. I sat in amazement. This movie was wonderful. After this premiere was finished applause of no end. I believe a standing ovation was due for all the work they did.

This gave Alan his 15 mins of fame at the ABC Tavern after the movie. Many people spoke to us about checkers. I hope that this will go to the ends of the earth and become a success. For it is a well worth it.

It is a MUST see.
never know you may even be in it :)))
but I not tellin

Hello Everyone:

As Kim wrote, all of us had a great time. The documentary goes next to the Sundance Film Festival .

I want to thank Joe A. and Joe E. Lo Conti for the tremendous financial investment they made to see this movie to completion. To Geoff Yaw and Think Media Studios for their tireless efforts in making this outstanding production.

As Kim said the vast majority in the audience of 300 plus were not Checker players. Everyone was rivited to their seats as the movie and its story unfolded before our eyes. The vast differences between lifestyles of Suki and Lubabalo were unreal. Many approached me after the movie to learn how they can help Lubabalo. I gave out a handful of my ACF business cards and fielded many questions from many who attended.

I do not want to spoil the movie for anyone who sees it when it is released. It is well worth seeing. At Sundance there will be approximate sixty concerns and any of them can show interest and pick up on this film.

It was great to see Dr. Beckwith there as well as my entire family and Kim Willis, who was our guest in Belpre for the week end.

Sincerely:

Dear Checker and Draughts players:

The following is a reply I received from film producer, Geoff Yaw that will answer many of your questions:

For future reference:

At this time there are no scheduled screenings of King Me. We have submitted to several film festivals and are waiting to hear back as to whether or not these fests will screen the movie. We are also in the process of arranging for distribution of the movie via DVD or theatrical release thus DVD's for purchase or rental are not available at this time.

Thanks,

Geoff

Hello everyone:

On occasion I get an update from Geoff Yaw of Thinkmedia studios who made the film. Geoff would like to see King Me make a circuit run on HBO ,etc. This takes time and marketing and money. Mr. Joe LoConti's son funded this movie himself !!

I can tell you first hand that the movie is top shelf in every way and very professionally done.

I will post anything I get from Geoff as far a progress with the movie.

Sincerely:

I saw it, awesome ! I felt like celebrity when Geoff called me after movie, alot of applauds in recognition of checkers.

Many thanks everyone who made it happened. On my way back I stopped at Medina exit in Waffle House. People who worked here also recognised me !!!

Not this time, Pal ! Presentation was at 9:45 PM. I left Columbus at 5:00 PM, came to Cleveland at 7:30 PM and participated in "Kings Me" party. After end of presentation I drove back to Columbus and was at home late night at 3:30 AM

I definetely will try to take a whole family or some next time, they should see this.

Many thanks to Geoff and his team - great, professional work.

Respectfully,
