I few weeks ago I received some emails from someone who signed them "Purple", the same as your IYT opponent, and who was interested in obtaining the 10pc database. In one of his emails he asked, "I am curently using the 8pc Cake Manchester and Kingsrow alternately with fairly good results but still lose from time to time. In your opinion will the 10 pc. substantially improve my success?".

My guess is that you were playing against a program.
