V. Shafir vs J. Tikhy, G1
Summary of errors in this game: White missed one strong continuation and one win, Red made one losing move.
See position on diagram #1. Kind of "phantom treats and phantom scares". Red just played 11-16 trying to trap white pieces and force them to run out of moves. it would be true to say that sometimes it works, but not in this specific case. However only deep, complicated calculations can prove one or another thing. So, potentiality to run out of moves was a "phantom scary" for white and they played here 24-20 which cleans the board, keep small advantage and ... missed a big winning chances !
22-18 in position on diagram #1 would force red to make several star moves in the row to survive. For instance, natuarl 5-9 after 22-18 loses by powerful 18-15 and now red runs out of moves after 16-20, 32-28, 17-21 (or 1-5, 23-18, 7-10, 18-14*, 9*18, 15-11*, 8*15, 26-22 WW), 26-22, 1-5, 23-18 etc WW
Here is a trunk drawn line on diagram #1 after 22-18 :
6-10, 18-15, 8-11, 15x6, 1x10, 24-20, 10-14, 27-24, 7-10, 13-9, 17-22, 26x17, 14x21, 31-26, 5x14, 26-22, 14-17, 22x13, 2-6, 32-27, 4-8, 30-26, 21-25, 26-22, 25-30, 22-18, 30-26, 18-15, 11x18, 20x4, 10-14 Draw
In position on diagram #2 red played losing 10-15? instead correct 11-15 and after then white played it perfectly until end of game where mistakenly agreed with draw in winning position !
Position on diagram #3 was a final position in this game where draw was agreed and ... white had a clear and the only win by 20-16* !

M. Bernini vs M. Borghetti, G1
In position on diagram #1 Matteo played suspicious 11-16? allowing white powerful 22-17 and danger ending. Michele immediately used all his chances. Instead 11-16, the program suggested waiting 4-8, however I personally would play more boring 9-13, 2-6, 6-9, 9-14 etc with Draw
After 11-16, 22-17, 9-13, 17-14, 10x17, 21x14, 13-17, 14-9, 5x14, 18x9 red had a first chance to play 16-20, 4-8, 7-10 to stop white King from coming back to center. Matteo played 17-22, 9-5 and they reached position on diagram #2. Here red had last chance to play 16-20 which leaded to some sort of very weak computer draw, but he played 22-25 (hence, I would probably do the same 9 times out of 10!) and eventually lost. Michele crowned his 1st King and came back to arena. Since then red didn't have a time to play 16-20 and eventually Michelly attacked it first 24-20 and crashed red position.
So far this game seems to me as best Miki game in this event where he played it perfectly at all stages - opening, midgame, ending phase - and won nicely an important game against strong opponent.

Bashim Durdyev vs R. Beckwith, G1
See position on diagram #1. Somehow important position which has a high theoretical value. Bashim played here over-aggressive but not accurate and critical 16-19?. Instead, 9-13 should give him an easy game after 17-14 (anything better?), 16-19, 23x16, 12x19 and noone has advantage here.
After 16-19 on diagram #1 game continued: 23x16, 12x19, 27-23, 4-8, 23x16, 8-12, 32-27, 12x19, 27-23, 19-24, 28x10, 7x21 and we reached position on diagram #2. Here Richard missed an important crucial tempo by playing 22-17 and allowing red to consolidate their forces 1-6*, 23-19, 6-10 etc Draw.
Instead 22-17, white should play aggresive 23-19 trying to break red position via center. Program shows a clear win now (after 23-19) which makes perfect sense. Red can't avoid white danger attack and everything goes up for white increasing their advantage and power. For instance ... 23-19, 9-14, 18x9, 5-14, 1-6 19-16* etc WW

D. Oliphant vs P. Faleo, G1
In this very interesting and instructive game red lost on time where they actually already had losing position. Most interesting things happened in midgame and ending phase of game. I am giving here just collection of missings.
On diagram #1 red already has very danger position but draw was still available by 4-8. Instead, red played 1-6? and after 27-23*, 19-24, 28x19, 15x24, 23-19, 24-28, 19-16, 28-32 the reached position on diagram #2.
Here white missed a win by 31-27? trade. Win was stil,l their after 16-11* and white crown King on time and "handle" red ducks on the right flank.
Continue from diagram #2: 31-27, 32x23, 26x19, 4-8, 16-12, 8-11, 12-8, 11-15, 19-16 ... See diagram #3. Another midgame masterpiece, 15-18 still alows draw, but 10-14? as played in the game loses.

U. Hydyrov vs S. Thrane, G1
Before position on diagram #1 gets on board, red played couple moves ago 16-20 which appears to be out of order. Position on diagram #1 appears as an earlier loss for red after 17-14*, 10x17, 21x14, 1-6, 19-15, 12-16, 29-25* etc Probably WW Actually there is much more play involve here and I am leaving it (and final verdict) for analysts
Instead 17-14 white played 27-23 allowing red 11-15 with even game. Instead, red played 9-14?, 18x9, 5x14 which appears now as another loss after 30-25*, 1-6, 22-18, 13x22, 18x9, 6x13, 26x17, 13x22, 25x18 ... see diagram #2. I was unable to find scientific draw for white. White just wants to play 18-14 and completely destroy red position. 11-15, 18x11, 7x16 can be well meet y 31-27* WW
Nothing this happened in actual game and after several moves they reached position on diagram #3. White played here 23-18?? and immediately lost after 3-7*, 31-27, 20-24*, 27-20, 11-16, 20x11, 7x23 and white man on 18 jeopardise.

R. King vs Bagtiyar Durdyev, G1
See position on diagram #1. Another earlier loss and nice addition to pulished play. White just played 17-13?? (17-14 is correct) and this looks like complete loss for white at the earliest stage of game !
In position on diagram #2 Ron played "provoke" move 8-11 and missed a win. After simple 9-14 white should run after move. The game continued from position on diagram #2: 22-18, 15x29, 20x4, 12-16, 20x11, 7x16, 8-4, 29-25 and they reached position on diagram #3.
27-24 should save the game by running this man to 12 and free King on 4. Instead, white played 28-24 and lost immediately after 16-19, 24x15, 10x19, 26-22, 25x18, 27-23, 19x26, 31x15, 9-14, 30-26, 14-17 RW

J. Jolliff vs I. martynov, G1
See position on diagram #1. Red played here losing 8-11? (7-10 correct) trying to prepare later 20-24 but in this particular situation it didn't work and seems to be a loss.
Due to health conditions (no other reasons!) Igor performance in Lille was well below his real level and strength (having a little luck and good physical form he can fight for medal). Even though he won this game, but it was more like his opponent fault, not Igor accomplishment.
Later they reached position on diagram #2. Here 32-27 should immediately finish the game where red just run out of moves. Instead, Igor played 29-25? which missed a win. Red can drew the game by 17-22, 25-216-9* etc Draw Instead 17-22 after 29-25, red played 20-24?, 25-21, 17-22 and now again Igor missed a win 32-27, 16-20, 30-26* etc WW.
Continue from diagram #2 ... 29-25, 20-24, 25-21, 17-22, 18-14, 10x17, 21x14, 16-20, 14-9 ...
See position on diagram #3. John lost it by 22-26??, 31x22, 24-27 etc WW. But simple 24-27 would drew the game without much troubles.

C. Freeman vs G. Owens
See position on diagram #1. Charles played here 10-14 and ... missed win - truly brilliant problem !!! When I first time looked at this position I didn't beleive my eyes ... Yes, red has a wonderful "problem-like" win here: 27-23, 7-2, 23-19, 16-11, 10-14, 11-8, 15-18**, 22-15, 19x10 - see diagram #2.. Here red have one King against two and "still can manage a capture of white man on 25 and win game. WOW

8-11? and game is over - lack of PP knoweldges. This position is well known to PP where 6-10* is the only drawn move.
