At least one thing you did right - you just tried to solve it , you trained your calciulation and visualization abilities, and perhaps comeup with some other endings ideas around

Now, there are only 2 problems left

#7. #7 C.Brown&A.Stewart

Red to move and draw

#8. J. Janiver

White to move and win.

#7. #7 C.Brown&A.Stewart

8-12 15-10(A), 12-19 24-15, 13-17 10-3, 17-21 25-22, 21-25 3-7, 25-30 15-11, 30-26 Draw.

A. 24-19 (the only other move I would consider to have any posablities, the rest seem to be pretty straight forward draws.), 14-18 15-11(if 25-21 18-23, 15-11 7-10 Draw), 13-17 11-2, 17-21 Draw

Hi, Jonathon !

The main variation is correct, but there are couple other lossing possibilities for red - worthy to include in solution. See my version of soulution

8-12* (A,B) 15-10, 12-19 24-15, 13-17 10-3, 17-21 25-22, 21-25 3-7, 25-30 15-11, 30-26 Draw.

A. 14-17? 24-20! 8-12 (17-21 16-12 21-30 12-3 WW) 25-21 12-19 21-14 WW

B. 13-17? 25-21 17-22 16-12 7-11 12-3 11-18 3-7 18-23 7-10 14-18 10-14 22-25 32-27* WW

#8. J. Janiver

18-14, 3-7(everything else should be bad within a couple moves) 30-25 17-21, 25-22, 21-25 22-18, 25-30 19-15, 16-19(A) 15-8, 19-24, 14-9 24-31, 8-3 31-15, 3-19 30-26, 23-18 26-31 (if 26-22 18-15, 22-18 15-11, the man on 9 has the move on reds king now to win.), 9-6 31-27, 6-2 27-32, 2-7 32-28, 7-11 28-32 (Red can't move 20-24 because of 11-15)WW.

A. 30-25 15-8, 25-30 8-3, 7-11(A1) 26-22!, 30-25 14-9, 25-30 22-17, 30-25 17-13, 25-21 (25-22? 3-8, 22-15 9-5 WW) 9-5 White should be able to hold the men on 11, 12, 16, and 20 with no problem and the king is trapped on 17, 21, 25, 29, and 30 with no where else to go. The man on 5 has the move on the king on 21, and should be able to pin him. WW

A1. 16-19 3-10, 19-24 (if 12-16 10-15, 19-24 14-10, 24-31 10-6, 31-22 15-10WW) 14-9, 24-31 9-6, 31-15 10-19, 20-26 23-18(similar position to main variation now except white has the move now)

For me thats a very long way to see, so I won't be suprized if missed something :). Thank you for the advice on how to correctly show the answers Alex, I'm not always sure what should be included in answers.

Hmmm I take back my answer, looks like I made a mistake if 18-14, 3-7(everything else should be bad within a couple moves) 30-25 17-21, 25-22, 21-25 22-18, 25-30 19-15, 16-19 15-8, 7-10!

I'll try and come up with a new answer.

#8. J. Janiver

18-14, 3-7 30-25, 17-21 25-22, 21-25 22-17 :) (My above posts show the narrow draw with 22-18 ), 25-30 17-13, 30-25 13-9, 25-21 9-6, 21-17(A) 6-2, 17-10 26-22, 10-14 2-6 WW.

A. 21-25 6-2, 25-21 2-6, 21-25 (21-17 6-2 is the same as the main line) 6-9, 25-21 9-13, 21-25 26-22, 25-9 13-6 WW.

I don't think it matters how red chooses to move the king around on the squares, the move is the same either way, and every other move must come back to 25 to allow the pitch for the win.

Hope that
