For the life of me, I cannot figure out why the American News Media believes that my senses should be assaulted with coverage of this event.......Danny_Alvarez wrote:am i the only one or is anybody else sick and tired of the royal wedding???

Re: ROYAL WEDDING
Jay .... most aussies are very blase about royalty here and in the commonwealth we are some of the most liberal nations within it (more republican people voicing their opinion) .... but truth be told aussies go GAGA over the royals whenever they attend our country ..... last time the queen was here for CHOG meeting they lost the plot and tonight aussie time everyone and their dog will be covering the wedding except one channel showing a rugby league game between my beloved BRISBANE BRONCOS vs Canterbury Bulldogs.... GOD BLESS CHANNEL 9
I am very partial to the idea of royalty... as long as they dont infringe on constitutional rights and i think most countries with royalty are a little bit more conservative and stable than republics.... having said that i do hold the american republic and its system in high esteem (despite all the inherent problems of all democratic governments)

Re: ROYAL WEDDING
the Queen is coming to Australia for the CHOGM again!!!! this June and people have started already talking about how this could be the last time she visits us.... (if you ask me she will live another 10-15 years, just like her mother) and they are already going GAGA over her. And Julia Gillard our prime minister (a hardcore republican) was kissing HRH Queen Elizabeth II 's butt all day long at the wedding celebrations.... telling her how glad she was that she would visit Australia. The royals have that Je ne se qua that makes people lose the plot and forget everything they believe in.
