From Russian language.

I decided to open this topic and add here eventually some translated proverbs, idioms, interesting anekdots etc. Russian language is very sharp and rich and has alot of interesting definitions for everything happened in human socitey.

1. Who is egoist ?
Someone who thinks only about him(her)self, and don't think about myself !

2. "Storm in glass of water'
This idiom defines situation, when people spend alot of time, have conflicts, discuss seriously about something miserable, simple and obvious. Alan Millhone liked this one alot

I am wondering now if people from other countries support my idea - open new topics in forum and share with us all beauties of other languages and culture ?

Each nation is unique, has it's own culture and history, and there are alot of things they can share here.

Just thoughts  ...

The Russian analogy of this proverb sounds something like: "It is better to be healthy and wealthy, than seek and poor" !

Another Russian joke ...

"Are you serious or joking ? If you are serious - it's OK, because I don't like such jokes !"

Hello Mr. Alex:

Yes, of all your Russian proverbs this is my absolute favorite. Many of the arguments I read amount to no more than this......................... However it would be wonderful if all arguments could be contained in such a small area !

Alan Millhone, President
American Checker Federation

A Message for your President

Dear Alan,

Do you consider such crude tales of excrement, as suitable on a family forum? Of course, it might be a case of cloacal obsession.

Alex, please try and comport yourself with a least a modicum of decency. Stooping to such vulgarity reduces you to the level of the gutter and is most unbecoming of a person of your prominence in the checker-playing word. Please make an attempt to project a better image of yourself to the impressionable minds of the younger players.
I concur entirely with Liam's response to your extremely crude message.

Hi John,

I'm sure you won't mind, if I point out that Ireland is not part of the British Commonwealth.

Liam, we are wasting our time here. It is not our business to try and assist those who prefer to wallow in the mire of iniquity.
