I think that Alex would have loved this. Two major checker tournaments were held during this year. "Checker Trivia questions of the Day". What checker organizations sponsored them? Where were they held? Who were the winners? And lastly one winner gave away his prize--to whom and why? (Cont.)

Well I don't know what the prize was or who won it but I did find a book for sale (Rex B. Wood , Walter Hallman) "Second Crossboard Tourney of the National Checker Association" http://www.usedbookcentral.com/cgi-bin/ ... inp=&maxp= So now we have the second big tournament from that year.

As I recall, the grand prize was a new $995.00 Studebaker Automobile. The car was won by none other than Willie Ryan, 2nd prize went to Walter Hellman, a $200 Bulova watch and $125 cash. I don't remember who Willie gave the car to , but as I recall, Willie did not drive.

These answers are close enough. Thank each of you for your participation. Ans. ACA--Flint, Michigan--won by Asa Long. NCA--Tacoma. Washington--won by Willie Ryan. First prize was a Studebacker which Willie won and sold to Walter Hellman since he did not drive. And then Walter drove Willie home. (Cont.)
