"Checker Spinners"--answer
One of the most interestng and essential checker implements from years ago was the "Checker Spinner". They came in all shapes and sizes--many displayed merchant advertising and they fit into your shirt pocket. "Checker Trivia question of the Day". What were these unique "Checker Spinners" used for? (Cont.)

Would they be used to determine the first two opening moves for two-move restriction style of play?

Pal is correct. These spinners were used to determine the first 2 or 3 moves to be made (at the start of the game) on the checkerboard. (Cont.)
