This is a superb article on Christie's defeat of Alfred Jordan and William Beattie in the final round of the 1891 English championship.
The article notes that Christie was a child prodigy at draughts, winning his first match at the age of 7 from a man named Brown from South Shields. It's interesting to note that, 36 years later, Christie came to America for the international match and made the best score of the entire British team when he was nearly 70 years old!
The Draughts Review from April 1926 notes his participation in the E.D.A. Correspondence Tourney, along with someone named T.A. Christie who also hailed from Sunderland, and who I assume was a relative of Henry.
