"From Bellboy to Multimillionaire"

Post by Mr. Checkers »

And with a few games of checkers along the way. Starting out as a bellboy he worked his way up into becoming the manager of the hotel. Over the coming years he made many extremely good investments in properties and other real estate. He loved playing checkers--he played in the First American Tournament in 1907 as I recall. He was also a avid collector of rare checker literature--building one of the finest checker libraries of his day. When he died a clause in his will stated that his library was to be placed in his private vault and never opened. "Checker Trivia" question of the day. Who was this wealthy checker player? (Cont.)

There have been several millionaires involved in checkers over the years. This one fell from the 9th story of his hotel in 1928 as I recall. (Cont.)
