The 2008 District 3 & Pennsylvania State will be held June 14th & 15th 2008.
The following was sent to me and has been put on the forum and in other checker publications for many years just before the Pa. St. Ck Ty... It is a tribute to all of the great players that have played there over the years.
"Tournament Fun for Everyone" For those that have never attended a checker tournament, I would surely recommend that you do so. One may feel that such events are only for the better players - their names are like everyday household words for many of us - but this perception is entirely untrue. These annual get togethers are really fun for everyone regardless of your level of play. The comradery that is experienced, not only in playing checkers but also through the intermingling with the notables of our game is like taking a walk in checker history. The old-time players are virtual encyclopedias of knowledge. Their stories of the personalities of the game command one's attention, and their play across the board leaves one spellbound in amazement. Nobody loses in these events, for the memories of the cast of characters that you meet will be treasured more than the winning of any game. What better way to meet a group of nice guys, make a new friend or two, and get to play checkers all at the same time. I hope to see you there soon, so please try to take in the next checker tournament in your area, for "Tournament Fun For Everyone."

Re: District 3 & Pennsylvania State
Hello Dr. B:
Appreciate your scoring report and for your comments. Tournament play is never easy as I found out losing both sides of a card to Mr. Alex and Dr. Beckwith. I consider myself a average player till I come to a tournament . However I enjoy playing the best players. They don't seem to mind beating me either !
This years Ohio State Tournament will be held the week-end before the King-Kondlo GAYP World Title Match in Medina,Ohio. All of you consider coming for the week-end tourney and maybe say over an extra day on Monday to meet and watch Ron and Lubabalo begin their games.
For the week-end tournament you will have Mr. Alex, Dr. Beckwith, Joe Loconti, GM Ed Bruch,Neil Wenberg, Louis Cowie, Ron "Suki " King, Lubabalo Kondlo (South Africa), others to be announced and even an average player like myself will be there to play all comers. So --- If you want to meet and play some of the best players on Planet Earth come and enter. Details in your current ACF Bulletin and on left side of main web page.
Sincerely:
Alan Millhone, President
