It depends !!! :D Both, me and Tim, are hard smokers and we had a gentl agreement to smoke during the match in playing room ... which maybe a bit challenging to JR who doesn't smoke at all !

BTW. Any bets ? Recently Tim softly mentioned that it would be nice to keep a crown in hometown. Hence, he didn't specify where hometown is located !

Alex

We are under way for the Elbert Lowder Memorial 11-Man World Title Match...

Alex arrived late Wednesday but ready to play Thursday Morning. The Albemarle Mayor Whit Whitley welcomed contestant and guest to Albemarle, Mrs Louise Cranford of Badin, Elbert's sister was there. Alex, Tim, Teal Stanley, myself and are going out for breakfast and a tournament business session, and then we will start the WTM.

Alex also discussed how he would help publish a Tournament Book on this 11-Man World Title Match which includes history of 11-Man with tounament pictures, and all tournament games, anotated by Moiseyev and Laverty. This Book will be available in a two months. This will be a limited edition at a price of $15.00 and the number of copies of 40. This will help in addition to the $500 prize fund, and complimentary rooms.

Non-annotated games will be delivered immediately after this 11-Man WTM available on ACF Forum.

Hello J.R.

Appears Tim will have his work cut out for him for day # 2. Appreciate the games update for day # 1. I suspect Mr. Alex took more time on his clock than Tim ?

Yes

this is a good start for Alex ; but there is a long way ahead and tim will find encouragement in the following::

In my 2001 wtq 3 move match against Alex on first day I was up 3:0 day 2 it was 4:1 third day still 4:1 (Then I started to celebrate a little too early!!!) 4th day 4;3 5th day morning session 4;4 and last session 1st game 5:4 last session, last game 5:4 but with equalising win missed by me

Good luck to both players

Yes ! In the first three games my time on the clock at the end was 59 minutes :) Tim played very well yesterday, but probably less experience with matches of such range and calibre, and getting a bit nervious had influence on his play. In the third game he had a reasonable advantage but simply overplayed it.

And I absolutely agree with William - everything is still ahead !

Stay on for late news ...

Alex
