im thinking of going to the southern states tournament, it is not definite, but i would most certainly like to. ill know closer to the tournament. i am wondering if there are any players going that would like to share a room. let me know if you do not have a roomate yet and would like one. itll save about $100 to share a room.

Southern Checker Tournament will be held in Lebanon, TN (Thursday through Sunday) on July 10-13, 2008. The site is the Americas Best Value Inn & Suites in Lebanon, TN. The inn is located on Highway 231 (822 Cumberland St.) near I-40 (take exit 238 North), and the same location as the Tennessee Open. On Thursday, July 10, registration begins at 9 AM followed by a business meeting at 10 AM. Tournament play will begin at 11 AM. The tournament will consist of ten rounds: 3 rounds on Thursday, 3 rounds on Friday, 3 rounds on Saturday, and 1 round on Sunday. For reservations, call 1-615-449-5991 and tell them you are a checker player. Checker player's rate is $42.00. Call early for reservations. For additional information, call Frank Davis at 1-931-552-4246

I talked to Teal Stanley several times over the course of Southern...

17 contestants, about 1/2 playing Masters and 1/2 Major/Minors

Joe Schwartz won Southern master division
Don't know top TN Master

Dale Hedrick, Earl Harvell, Harvey Powell, Leonard Hickman, Homer Rankhorn were top finishers but I don't know what order.

you guys really missed out on a wonderful tournament. everyone in the masters had their share of good and bad days, with joe coming out on top, congrats to all
