The WCDF had 12 free tickets for Beijing and asked in all mails to all players to cover all flight costs on their own.
But now we see that some r more equal then others.

I cannot say how much this hurts and how disappointed I am.

no greetinx today,

What do you like about checkers?: .....

At the time when me and Richard Beckwith bought our tickets, middle of June, we didn't know anything about free tickets. After I bought my tickets well in advance, I learned several days later that I am elligible for free ticket but ... only Chineesse airline. John Reade said that my "free ticket" will be sold (perhaps Hugh Devlin ?) and I should get reimbursement - thats what I am expecting now.

However, WCDF often change their mind and decisions and I don't know what happened with my free ticket and money.

To Ingo: yes, not all players are even - some have titles, other have better ratings :D Anything wroing with this ? To make everyone even, we should stop playing checkers competitevely !

Respectfully,

Alex Moiseyev

Dear Alex,

There was never a public announcement or a decision of the WCDF how to distribute the free tickets.
The member federations were never informed, and had no chance to apply for the tickets, that is a fact.
Is it a coincidence that except Ron King, all players on that list r from Irish and British federations?
Fact is: the WCDF(i.e. the member federations) was never informed.
Check the general Emails given to the participants in the last month!
Always it was said that everybody has to cover the flight costs on his/her own!
Never it was mentioned that they had free tickets and never was there any basis to give the free tickets away without giving the member federations a chance to apply for the tickets, although they had three month time for that!
How can you explain that?
There r players on the list rated lower then for instance the German players (not to mention US, Turkmenistan or South African players), so the fact is that they did not use the World Ranking to determine who should get the tickets is apparent.
BTW: There was no decision to handle the matter like that, so I don’t need to discuss about if they did it right.
They should not have done it at all!
As a representative of a small and poor federation I feel upset about this.
The WMSG is no Home Internationals!
We are told to pay, and others, less qualified, get free tickets.
That also applies to other federations. In fact to all but the British & Irish.

Greetinx to you Alex,

Ingo

Ingo, I am a victim in this story. I also read in June, that ALL players have to pay on their own and I bought my ticket. So did Richard Beckwith.

Several days later we learned that there are free tickets available and we are elligible. However, complimentary tickets are using only Chineese airline.

Then an idea of reimbursement was in the air for several days and finally I said that my ticket can be sold to someone in order to get money back to me.

Yesterday I learned that my free ticket was passed to someone else without prior notification and my permission.

We both are upset, but my upset has a price: "$1,100".

Regards,

Alex

Ingo you said it all.For one if players who had already placed flight tickets to China why couldn't they for one gave those to other players? Plus why was it so hush hush?
As a World federation i believe that many things have been done wrong .
1).Kondlo not being asked to attend
2).Having 12 tickets and no open applications to distribute these fairly.
3).Communication and all information given out in a honest manner

As of now we have no information on Visas. How we are to recieve them and when.We as players should be told of any changes in venue and if changes should be notified at once. Plus i can see why some have withdrew from attending. which is sad.

I see if we do not communicate with each other that we as federations and associations will never unite and make a stand to help the Checker World grow and be here in our childrens future it will be lost.We ALL need to be honest with each other and work together to make our federations and associations better.

Ingo i am upset too.I just thought we all needed to know.
