Ingo,

Can you post the results so far, or tell us where we can find them.

We are starved of information here. We don't even know who is playing.

John.

In 1st round I won both games against James Morrison. In 2nd round I was extremely lucky to win one game against Amangul, Ron in 2nd round won both games against Japaneese player and took a lead position, Richard Beckwith played 1st game to draw with Italian master, and 2nd game is in porgress. Full results of round will be posted later.

Everything is fantastic and I am very happy and honored to play in this historical event !

Well its all systems go Alex and its good to keep us updated on the first rds which as expected has thrown up some lap-sided results ........will this format country v country in the 1st rds determine the winner in the end we will have to wait n see.!!

An historic occasion it certainly is..........good luck all.!!.Keep in touch Ingo/Alex.

Who was it that said ::"I told you so"

Whatever the reason or whoever it was, surely it should have been subject to some logic and common sense? Yes plain old common sense or if for no other reason so as we wouldnt be hoisted up "as the laughting stock" whatever other shorting comings we might have.

It should certainly have been subject to an overriding rule that no pairing (country v country)should be allowed where the rating difference between two players exceeds a certain limit. I would set that limit at 200 rating points difference, and under no circumstances greater than 300 rating points. I am sure that in the Chess world (or other professional sport) such a pairing would be ruled out of court and prob laughted at all the way to the checkered board. This is the position our"WORLD BODY" has inflicted on us.

So, in one USA pairing we have a difference of 667 rating points and in the Barbados pairing a difference of 730 points. A gift wrapped presentation of 4 points for the higher rated player in each case. One wonders what is the point
in having any ratings when the evidence or results produced are completely ignored, to impose such an outcome deliberately is inexcusable setting Master against JUNIORS.

In the Chess world the rating order IS split into two halves. Then, for the 1st round, the top player in the 1st half plays the top player in the 2nd half and so on down the line. Wouldnt that make better common sense which would lead one to believe these people havent got the brains the were born with?..............

Excellent points there Tommy.

The 10 X !0 Draughts Organisation have set the standard with wonderful coverage and live games presented on a daily basis. Also with 2 Swiss sections, they allowed the top 8 in each section to battle it out in a follow on Knock Out
competition. Seems a much better way than total reliance on the vagaries of the Swiss System.

In 3rd round today I played with Shane McCoskey and Ron played with Italian grandmaster. Me and Shane picked a new opening, Denny Dodger, 11-15 22-17 10-14. I was lucky to score a win having white's and secure a draw with red. Ron won both games and now with 12 points after 3 rounds is leading the race. I have 10 points and it seems like noone has 9. Amangul won her first game against Richard Beckwith and now they are playing 2nd game, where Richard has advantage.

More later ...

Ron plays very well, so do I. I can't **** with game and play scientific checkers, but luck with pairing in Swiss system beats any science !

I should play in the evening with Ron ... will see what happened :D

Stay on !

Alex

Moiseyeva beats King 2 straight wooow........that tightens the field...............just a 2 pt Ty...now the Durdyeyev s need to to be paired in this or the nxt rd then we will see a clearer picture but it looks like its between the top 10 from here.

Mois and King are still favs for a 1,2 every one else is playing for BRONZE.......go on ya wee good thing........"Chinese Paddy McCosker".

Moiseyev the heavyweight again the flyweight/ Alex would floor him in the 1st. But its not beyond the realms of possibility Josh b/c i think the Durdyeyev s can now control the board for at least 3rd place.

Five of the family were given a place in the contest contrary to the 4 player per country rule ,but you cant blame them for that stroke of good fortune ,fair play to them .Four of them are still up leader board so they should be able to control the outcome better than anyone else and that wont be too hard considering their they only need 2nd /3rd .

Our Irish players are doing ok apart from Hugh who is having a bad run one would have to say the highlight so far is the form of Amangul and the white-washing of Ron by Moiseyev, the down side to that is the 1st three rds no hoper oppponents of King which is a tad disapointing in this company and must show the incompetience of the organisers.
It just wouldnt happen in a local Ty............that aside theres alot stuff to be played yet and i can feel the buzz rising, tomorrow is an all important day which will set up the "real" Ty and may the the best man/woman win the prize, but as the auld fillas used to say here at home "theres manys a slip between the cup and the lip".

It was a small inaccuracy on WMSG with standings: Aleksey Papulovas from Lietuva also has 12 points. Here is a paring for 5th round:

1. A. Moiseyev (USA) vs A. Papulovas (LTU)
2. R. King (BAR) vs M. Durdyev (TRM)
3. B. Durdyev (TRM) vs De Mirko (ITA)
4. S. McCoskey (IRL) vs R. Beckwith (USA)
5. R. Allicock (ENG) vs J. Morrison (USA)
6. W. Docherty (SCO) vs O. Kolin (UKR)
7. A. Durdyeva (TRM) vs G. Owens (IRL)
................................................

After I beat Suki in both games it makes the whole scenario more interesting, attractive and intrigue. Nothing over yet. Knowing Ron quite well for more than decade, I can predict that he will fight like tiger trying to win all games to the rest !

Stay on ...

Alex
