The full credit for this draw must be giving to my friend Miljenko Lepsic from Croatia - good 10x10 player and genius composer, especially in 10x10 ending field
Yes Lepsic has found the draw at this stage and very beautiful.
I met him in 1994 international ty at Paris and we had a few games of checkers during 10x10 ty.
He also gave me a book that he wrote dedicated to the 3126 opening on 10x10
Nice guy and certainly could do well to start up checkers!!!!!
just back from Beijing I have to congratulate Alex for his performance.
He has won the best tournament of this century so far in fine style.
He did win the only US Gold medal, though not the only US medal , as they also had a bronce medal in Bridge.
Ron played good, but was disappointed with his performance, as his ambition is to win the event.
Congratulations to him!
Only track and field star Obedele Thompon who once won a bronce medal at Olympic games has ever scored a result that is comparable in Barbadfian sport history on high-level events.
Raivis Paegle, who lived in Ireland for a few years, showed his great fighting abilities and won against Mustafa depite his very critical time-trouble.
Also congratulations to him!
Raivis medal was the biggest surprise in this event, but as the competition showed, the world-class is now broader and closer together then in the previous years, and you need luck and determination to win a medal.
Other questions that I want to address r:
1. The Durdyevs did not give away games. True, Amangul won both games against Prahat, but I would point out that Amangul showed more determination and discipline then Prahat.
But he definately did not lose on purpose or without fight.
The Durdyevs were all dissapointed, as they missed medals or higher placements, but so were quite a few in this close race.
I am sure they will do their best to perform better next time, but in 2012 the level will be much higher then now.
2 Mr. Javzan Gerulchuluun of Mongolia finished on the same number of points as Patricia Breen.
Both the program that I used to calculate the standings for the internet, and Ian Caw's calculations saw Gerelchuluun (her first name) ahead by just one point (!)of the tiebreaker.
So I think that in 2009 there could be an All-Asian World Championship.
I3. The games were all recorded, and the sheets were handed over to me, as I offered to put them in a pdg-format.
Very few games were already put on the FMJD-website, but I had not enough time to play, do the press work in Beijing, cure a bad cold and to enter the games manually on the site.
Other draught styles either used electronic boards or had their special press officials that did noting else but enter games on their website.
It is not yet decided what we finally do with the games, but the players that played at the WMSG will of course be the first to be informed how they can get all games, and we all agreed that the games mustbe published.
After we informed the players, we will also inform all interested Checker friends world-wide.
