Re: Postings to be deleted
If you do not wish them to be deleted then let me know which posts they are.
I'm just trying to clean up the forum so that empty topics will not appear on the forum. I do not like 'holes' in the forum topics as is the case with all of the above (the all appear without any topic).
Most of the posts in the above topics serve no useful purpose. In fact most of the posts are nothing but smiley's. However, I will not delete any post with text that the user does not wish to be deleted, at this time.

postings
Then why not just delete the ones with smileys and nothing else,or the blank postings, but leave the written ones.i just dont like deletions personally, nor interference with writings, and i feel the delete feature should never have been introduced,as you can see what a shambles its become on here

Very good point Jan. Once a post has been submitted then, for better or worse, it should not be interfered with and should remain as a historical record. This reprehensible habit of retrospectively amending postings smacks of George Orwell's 1984 and the 'thought police'. It was also a feature of communist Russia during the Stalinist period.
In a curious way, it also reminds me of Yossarian in Catch 22, who censors the mail, so that letters ended up with only the word "the" and blanks in between, appearing in them.

If used correctly the edit button is a useful feature. Its a shame that some people have to abuse it.
I for instance am going to use it to remove the links in my above post, as they no longer exist. Its very helpful if you mis-spell a word and want to adjust it or if you post wrong information (a link to website which is wrong or has changed).
I wish there was a way to limit its usage, but unfortunately there is not.
Re: Postings to be deleted
Hi,
I agree with the Liam and nursie .. err .. Jan
And Jason too, if used correctly the edit feature is a good one. However, the result now is that the people that abused the feature in the first place get more than they bargained for and even get the topic removed all together!
I'm not clear on WHY they are removed. 'Holes' are not nice but if I want a topic removed now, all I have to do now is make a post and then 'smiley-face' it?

Re: Postings to be deleted
As I have no desire to incur the displeasure of the "Brotherhood" and, as in George Orwell's "1984", be dragged off to "Room 101" where my worst fears will be realised (having my checker board and pieces confiscated), I agree to my posts being deleted.
