Hello all
I use to play draughts (checkers) back at university but since then marriage and children have reduced my available time and I can no longer attend draughts meetings. I would like to set up a game if anyone is interested, via snail-mail i.e. postal service. It has been a while since I played last, so it could be a quick game but I won`t improve if I`m not playing!
I know there are many websites to play, but it is so impersonal and most players are so impatient during play, take longer than a few minutes and they have left the table.
I`m in the UK so it would be a slow game but with airmail, postal times are quick now and postage costs cheap with airmail paper. I will need some pointers before we begin in terms of how correspondence play is made, is the board redrawn for each correspondence? How is the game started, from a set start position?
Let me know on here and by personal email if you are interested. To avoid SPAM emails being sent to my account please remove the “NOSPAM” from the address before sending:

Hi Craynerd
It sounds like you have played real time online and didn't like it - you should consider playing at a turn based site instead e.g. http://www.goldtoken.com/ - that is online version of correspondence play. Nobody plays by snail-mail any more

What a shame...I`m 25 y/o and it seems like everything is electronic and nobody has to put effort in anything! Pathetic.Nobody plays by snail-mail any more
I`ve not had an overall bad experience online, jeez I`ve been playing online for years both checkers and poker. Infact I was one of the first at the local checkers club to introduce older members to the world of online checkers years ago.
I just felt a snail-mail game would feel more personal, looks like I will have to stick to the electronic waves sent through the empty void of cyber space ....such as life!

Hello Craynerd,
I cannot play you via regular mail as 1 or 2 moves a month doesn't do anything for me. I will, however, play you a match via email with you having 72 hours to answer my replies. If you want to play then select 3 openings and I will do the same. My email address is mbanks36@hotmail.com. The only player I know that still plays by snail mail is Nigel Proffitt .
All the best,
