"Spirit of the Game"--answer

Is a beautiful picture showing two old cowboys playing checkers outside of the old General Store. "Checker Trivia question of the Day". What is unusal about these old cowboys? (Cont.)

Without seeing the picture it's hard to says what is different about these cowboys (but I know old cowboys better than I know checkers) so I'll take a guess and say they are playing checkers while sitting on their horses, which is different than most checkers players we find sitting in chairs.

They are both ghosts sitting at a table playing checkers outside the general store and you can see right through them. (Cont.)

I found the picture, it's by artist Charles Blaylock and it was made into a jigsaw puzzle.
