TN Tournament....

Post by JMcDonald »

I had a question. I heard that the ACF isnt hosting the TN Ty? Does this mean that no points will be assessed to your ACF rating after the tournament?

Hello Jon:

Good to see you are back !! Last we played and you beat me was in Vegas in 2001 . The March Tennessee Tournament is a non-ACF sanctioned tournament. At present we do not have a ratings process person since Dave Butler retired from this position. In my opinion any tournament that is not ACF endorsed should not have any rounds counted towards ratings. But others will agrue that with the scarcity of tournaments that everything and anything should be counted in the ratings. Opinions vary, and I have just stated mine.

Some tournament directors require ACF Membership at least in the Masters and I applaud them for doing so.

The August ACF (GAYP) Nationals will be an official ACF event and you will have to be a dues paid current member of the ACF to enter any division .

Yes, has been a while. Good to be back. Ok, thanks for explaining things. I will pay my dues here shortly, if your looking for someone to do the ratings. I would be up to the position....! Thanks again Alan and see you soon.

Hello Jon:

Many thanks for offering to help on ratings. I will have Dr. Beckwith get in touch with you .

Dues can be sent to me or Mrs. Kim Willis or can be paid at our ACF store with PayPal :-)

Alan, what has to happen in order for the ACF to endorse the TN tourney?

Hi Michael:

Since you asked.................... A few years ago it was stated in the playing room that the Tennessee Tournament was about as big as the ACF Nationals and the Tennessee Tournament did not need the ACF . Mr. Alex and many others were present when this comment was made to a packed room of players. Mr. Alex was also there when it was put to a vote to use clocks and that motion failed. I still contend that any USA Tournament not under ACF auspices should not be counted in ACF ratings.

Yes, I was there when we voted. Majority decided do not require to use clocks in Master Division in TN State Open Checkers Tournament. So be it.

Patrick,

I made reservation today, one smoking room, 2 beds. $42 + tax per night for checkers player - not a bad deal !

I will arrive late Thursday. Payment for the room will be done from my credit card.

See you there on Friday and have a safe trip.
