"no spika de Ingles".[
Like the Northern Ireland Open the progress of the English Open appears to be a closely guarded secret. Perhaps it was moved to Bletchley Park?

I remember one in 2001 when I played Eliminator match in Morecambo with William Docherty. I think the total overturn was around 40 players in 3 Divisions (someone can correct me, if numbers are not accurate). Even in 2005 when Patricia finished 2nd, there were still about 20 players in Master Divisions. Grrr ...

We have same problem here in USA.

Regards,

Alex

Yes, attendances have, unfortunately, fallen in recent years, and I think I might not be unjust in claiming that not even the best efforts of the Dynamic Duo in 1992 (Torvill and Dean :) , promoters of the Deus ex Machina razzamatazz ), with the vast resources and influential media connections at their disposal, were successful in introducing any significant new blood into the game in England.

After eighteen games I had nine wins and nine draws and consequently had no need to play my last two games to win the event. I made it clear that any one of the twenty players could have won it. It was just a lucky throw of the dice and they landed OK for me. You win some and you lose some I suppose. Sorry for the delay in giving the results but I had no internet access. I had enough problems getting to and from the venue each day in my poor state of health without having to search the town for an internet connection, so I am sorry about that. My cell 'phone could not call or receive due to the mountains surrounding the town. I will post the full results soon and will add pics and vids to my little site.
On a very sad note, Colin Young of Scotland had a heart attack on the Wednesday morning whilst in the playing room. He was taken to a hospital forty miles away (Knighton in only a small town and has no hospital). He is in a stable and comfortable condition. As a good friend of mine of over thirty years my thoughts were with him throughout the event as the game seemed unimportant then. Friends are vastly more important than a game. Please keep Colin in your prayers. He is a wonderful person who has done so much for the game.
Best wishes to you all,
Lindus.
