I'm just curious whether many of the forum Checkerists are Cribbage players as well. It is my favorite two player card game and it takes a little mental agility to play it well (which explains why I'm not particularly good at it). The game moves very fast and has a great history (supposedly invented by Sir John Suckling, a British poet, in 1630 or so, but that story might be apocryphal...).
I was in the British Virgin Islands a few years ago and it seemed everybody played (but, then again, maybe I was just hanging out with the wrong crowd...).
Anyhow, it's worth a try if you ever need a break from Checkers!

Re: Cribbage!?
An excellent game indeed, with a lot of opportunity for skillful play.
The other 2 handed card games that we've played a lot are cassino and gin, both also deceptively simple. The better player will usually overcome the luck of the cards.
Don't ever play gin against Ricky Jay. http://rickyjay.com/bio.html
