Re: Women's World Freestyle Championship
My attention has just be drawn to this discussion as I rarely view this forum. Can I say clearly that at no time have I ever stated that I am trying to resurrect this match for August. I asked a question and am still awaiting a reply. Can I also say that my first impressions of Jan's recent posting is twofold (a) there is so much detail that has been omitted from this account and (b) a number of things said in this posting are untrue. I will make a full statement in due course. Regards Hugh.

Re: Women's World Freestyle Championship
I'm sorry Alex (and Hugh), but I find this an absolute insult. Months ago my mother was led to believe that you as an important member of the WCDF would take this match seriously, and also everything involved with it (including the prize money). Obviously this is not so, as seen by your "April's Fool Joke" which is no laughing matter for someone who is travelling to the other side of the world in what is meant to be the "best run match". As far as I am concerned, this is an absolute farce and if it was my decision I would want my mother to resign from this match and the whole checkers community overall. Even though she has got a lot of support from loyal friends and players alike, the way she is being treated by the WCDF is absolutely despicable and underhanded. There are contradictions and double standards everywhere and I don't understand how it is that you can run the WCDF successfully if you openly renege and falsify details on matches and obviously favour one player over another. My mother's passion is checkers and I myself have travelled with her to Las Vegas for competitions and know that she loves this game and the people she meets through it. But you are destroying her love of the game through this example and this will no doubt reverberate throughout the checkers community.

Re: Women's World Freestyle Championship
In Russsia this kind of jokes is called "black humor" - joking about absolutely serious and not funny things. Example:
Doctor: "I have good news for you and bad news"
Patient: "Tell me bad news."
Doctor: "We have to cut both your legs"
Patient: "And what are good news ?"
Doctor: "We find a buyer for your shoes"
But I understand that different people and nations have different sense of humor, and some don't have it at all.
Kim, I am not WCDF member, never was and probably never will. If you want to talk with WCDF, your speech must be address to other people.
Although, double standards is very interesting subject and I can tell you alot about this
but don't have a time - I need to prepare for my upcoming 3-moves WCM in fall with challenger - Ron King.
Respectfully,
AM

Alex Moiseyev i some times enjoy black humor but in the right time and place (obv yu havent a clue abt that).....i am totally disgusted how cruel you could be to Jan Mortimer and i know you dont like her much, even so from now on i will always see you in a different light ,im disgusted that you couldnt tell the woman before now after you said you were in contact with Hoja and everything was fine ......how cruel is that ,you r just a bollox Moiseyev, least you might do is apologise instead of talking so smug as if nothing happened and mind you ,you werent so funny when your previous match was cancelled with Ron King as i remember..............and one more thing DONT DARE REPLY WITH YOUR RUSSIAN BLACK HUMOR OR OTHERWISE JUST DONT TALK TO ME AGAIN .............. E.V.E.R..
As for the Wcdf or THEY ARE NOT WORTH MENTIONING ,as Kim Mortimer already said they are well on their way to isolating the whole draughts community.............thats my tuppence worth.
And im sure no one expects any sort of decent reply from the WCDF as they are too busy with their heads in the sands of back slapping and meetings of importance ,important only to themselves,of which nothing is heard of, after.

Hi, Tommy !
In this particular situation, I don't take any sides, and Jan is obviously not an angel or victim in this case and added somethinbg to escalate conflict. There is nothing personal in my opinion and my treatment of Jan, Amangul or WCDF is at the same level. When they are doing right things - I applaud, when they are doing something wrong - I criticize.
I don't need apologise before people with different sense of humor. Black humor applies to ANY situation.
I also learned a good lesson two years ago when my match was canceled, and today would behave differently if this happened again. Nothing can bring me down now and nothing can surprize.
Regards,
Alex

Absolutely WRONG Alex. How could one apply black humour (British spelling) to all situations?
I think I need not cite any examples of how such humour would be deemed inappropriate as even a person with the lowest sensibility will appreciate. There are some people, very sadly I regret to say, who find such humour stimulating.
So far as the "April Fools' Day" joke was concerned I thought it was in exceedingly poor taste and only served to cause Jan Mortimer great annoyance at a difficult enough time as it was.
Please do not reply saying have no sense of humour as nothing could be more distant from the truth. I have a wonderful sense of humour, but your idea of a joke entirely failed to amuse me. In point of fact it achieved the opposite.
It is bad enough that Jan Mortimer is going through the most appalling time with the WCDF without you exacerbating the situation.
I know you will not be able to find it within you to apologise (again British spelling) to Jan but please, for common sense and decency, refrain from such jokes in the future.

wELL lINDUS I DONT THINK YOU GOT IT RIGHT ,IN FACT I WOULD demand an apology if the man is capable of such a thing im not sure (perhaps like most bullies ,he may think its a sign of weakness) "cometh the hour cometh the man".........but on this occasion ,less than a man.!!!.......and not alot of good manners or common decency.

Yes Tommy, I agree with you one hundred percent. I will, in fact must, ask Alex to apologise to Jan Mortimer.

FINE GIRL YOU ARE
A girl from New Zealand named Jan
challenged Amangul the world champion
But, it’s all in a dangle,
Or maybe a jangle,
For the Manat, cannot leave Turkmenistan.

Re: Women's World Freestyle Championship
At this stage i would like to ask for an independant review of this fiasco by person or persons NOT in the WCDF.I have lost all confidence and trust in the WCDF handling of the bid.
A list of the shortcomings in the WCDF proposals are:
1)The complete failure of the WCDF to address or even recognize the problems of exporting currency from Turkmenisten
2)airticket not provided as stated in the bid,the cost of the ticket only to be provided when landing in Turkmenisten.
3)Failure of the WCDF to properly follow up my acceptance of the 15th June offer. And no request to the NZDA(New Zealand Draughts Association)for any extension after June 15th.
4) But a later offer the WCDF are pursuing of August 10-14,with no directions or nothing properly in place, and with no time to get visas, etc which makes me unable to accept.
5)And finally just the inability of the WCDF to get a match going, with no practical guidelines in place, no contract set up,no practical help and allowing the Turkmenisten bid the length of time it has taken, and is still being taken, with no deadlines set.

Dear Jan,
it is not true that the WCDF and the executive board of the WCDF are not independent.
I just wanted to point that out.
Nobody can buy me.
